The Smart way to shop online! Transforming the online shopping experience!

Added: (Fri Aug 22 2008)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Retailers and manufacturers in the United Kingdom (UK) with an online-presence will now have access to leading technologies that allow them to significantly increase their level of customer service and revenues.

Smart Information Systems develops a new generation of virtual assistants for e-commerce portals called Smart Assistant. Utilizing an interactive jargon free dialogue, the Smart Assistant is able to identify the needs of each individual customer and finds the products or product bundle’s that best meet the shoppers requirements. So for example, instead of asking how many mega pixels the camera should have, the question would be phrased in a customer oriented manner such as: “what is the primary function that the camera should fulfil?” Not just limited to cameras, the Smart Assistant spans a wide product range including electrical goods, clothing, finance and tourism.

Based on Semantic Web Technologies, Smart Information Systems is able to overcome the shortfalls of filtering tools that quickly lead to “no results found”, but instead empowers the customer to see how their requirements influence the available product choices and price.

“Customers are overwhelmed by the increasing complexities in product offerings, so they want a tool that gives them the confidence that the item they decide to purchase is the right one. This is a service that until now, customers can only get in shops or from expensive customer service lines” says Ellis Mannoia, International Sales Manager at Smart Information Systems. “The Smart Assistant fills the service gap that current online platforms offer, and adds a further advantage to online vs in store shopping”.
“Consumer electronic products are bought online mainly by technologically savvy users. Many consumers don’t understand the complex language such as: megapixel, digital zoom and s-video. This complex language as well as the increased amount of products available leads to confusion and causes the online-shopper to interrupt the buying process” explains Dirk Lauber, e-commerce manager at BAUR, one of the leading online retail outlets in Europe.

Since the product launch less than a year ago, Smart Information Systems already counts the leading e-commerce platforms in the German speaking market to its customers. Clients such as: OTTO (#1 online retailer), Quelle (#2 online retailer), Baur, and Neckermann, have already been convinced of the advanced technologies that the Smart Assistant has to offer and are already reaping the rewards in areas such as: TV’s, Cameras, PC’s, white goods, clothing etc.

“Increasing the conversion rate and offering better tools for online shoppers, is on everyone’s mind” continues Ellis Mannoia. “With the trend continuing to move customers from high streets to online portals, retailers are looking for innovative ways to retain customer loyalty. The Smart Assistant definitely plays a key role in this effort”.

Smart Information Systems will be attending the E-commerce Expo on the 28th and 29th October (stand 910)
