The Russian Economic Forum opened in London on Monday. About 2,000 businessmen and businesswomen attend the forum that is held for the tenth time. The highlight of the Forum will be the Russian Rhapsody Gala, benefiting the Naked Heart Foundation, supermodel Natalia Vodianovas Russian childrens charity.
London/ Moscow/ Miami, April 23, 2007 -- The Economic Forum is the largest business event in the world specializing in Russia. Each year, it brings over 2000 leading industry CEOs, bankers, investors, journalists, politicians and other key opinion formers to London from Russia, Europe, the Americas and elsewhere, to discuss and debate the business and investment climate of the worlds most exciting emerging markets.
This year the conference enters its 10th anniversary year. Its history presents an eye-opening snapshot of the last decade of Russias business development, including an economic crisis that many feared would take as long as a generation to overcome, followed by historic economic growth in recent years that has put Russia amongst the fastest growing economies in the world.
A long list of confirmed speakers at the Forum includes The Rt. Hon. Alistair Darling MP, British Secretary of State for Trade and Industry; Alain Belda, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Alcoa; Stephen Jennings, Chief Executive Officer, Renaissance Group; Richard Lambert, Director General, Confederation of British Industry; Roger Munnings, President and CEO, KPMG Russia/CIS; Alexander Lebedev, Deputy, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation (State Duma); Boris Titov, Chairman, Delovaya Rossiya Public Organisation; Jean Lemierre, President, EBRD; Andrew Somers, President, American Chamber of Commerce in Russia; Alexander Izosimov, CEO, VimpelCom; Alexei Gurin, Chief Executive Officer, Amtel-Vredestein N.V.; Nikolai Dobrinov, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, NOMOS-BANK; Simon Vainshtock, Transneft; Edward Rossel, Governor, Sverdlovsk Region; Alexander Tishanin, Governor, Irkutsk; Aleksei Venediktov, Echo of Moscow Radio; Michel Perhirin, MDM Bank; Grigory Berezkin, CEO, ESN Group; Evgeny Chichvarkin, Chairman of the Board, Euroset.
A recent theme at the Forum has been the growing global interests of leading Russian companies, and this will be reflected once again in the program for 2007.
Through foreign acquisitions, and IPOs, Russian firms are making their presence felt around the world in ways that would have been difficult to imagine just a few short years ago. Many are developing into strong international brands.
"As the Russian economy is expanding at a rapid pace, and Russians are generally known as most discerning buyers, it is only natural that we are here to introduce CHI, one of the worlds most luxurious oceanfront properties located in North Miami Beach, said Katerina Brosda, a Miami area broker (http://www.ChiTowerMiami.com).
As in the past, the conference venue is The Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, in the heart of Westminster.
The Forum runs over two main days but is accompanied by many other networking and social events. At the conference itself, there are over 25 plenary and breakout sessions on a variety of themes.
