Motivational Guru teaching 'How to Manage Debt' declared bankrupt

Added: (Fri Mar 31 2006)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Monroe Mann, the motivational speaker, actor, singer and founder of the Unstoppable Artists Business School of NYC, who taught young students amongst other things "How to Manage Debt" was declared bankrupt 4 years after the founding of the school.

Monroe Mann built his business empire on credit card debt and ran up a tab of $65,000 according to www.business-opportunities.biz. Despite spending these vast sums on credit cards he also taught at his Unstoppable Artists school how actors like himself could manage their debt.

A closer inspection of Mann's teaching and career reveals a wealth of irony. You see not only is Monroe Mann an actor and teacher, he is also a writer of motivational books for actors. To quote his ironically titled 2nd book 'The Theatrical Juggernaut: The Psyche of the Star':

"Its about why ninety-nine percent of aspiring professional actors fail to even get their foot in the door, and why ninety-nine percent of those with their foot in the door are usually standing outside the door soon after."

The irony is that Monroe tells people through his books and schools his ways of becoming a successful actor, yet his life now reads exactly as he describes 99% of aspiring actors in his book quote above.

Monroe has to his name just one film credit, from 2002, a full 5 years ago, and it was a background role which required him to 'play' comatose. His attempts at becoming famous by following his OWN guides have resulted in nothing but a stillborn motion picture called 'In the Wake' which required 100% of its $3million budget to be donated (yes "donated"!) to him directly. Mann made only $12,530 and later admitted only $300 was the real total raised.

Former students have noted how Mann will urge his students to give up jobs and commit to becoming a star 100% of the time like himself, which is easy for him to say as he still lives in his parents house in Rye County (and he STILL ran up $65,000 debt), at the grand old age of 28. In fact all of Mann's many businesses, from the school to his film company and leaflet delivery service can be traced back to his parents house.

Part of Mann's trouble is one of his main theories for guaranteeing becoming a super-star is to act like a super-star diva already. Another snippet from 'The Psyche of the Star':

"Say to yourself, "I already know I am going to succeed. There is nothing in my way." And really believe it. What this means is that the future is truly of your creation. Picture yourself in your living room with an Oscar on your mantle ten years from now. That is your Oscar! Congratulations. You did it! You won an Oscar!"

Mann's theory suggests that if you can imagine becoming a film star, then you WILL become a film star, and if you can imagine winning an Oscar, then you WILL win one.

Mann may practice what he preaches, but his life proves in no uncertain terms that his ideas don't work and those practices seem to be akin to having 5 reverse gears and no gas.
