Hinduja Group as a Co-host at the 62nd Cannes Festival, May 13 to May 24, 2009

May 12, 2009: This year Hinduja Group participated as a co-host (Hinduja Ventures Limited was the participating company with its Media Companies and Serendipity Films) at Cannes Film Festival (CFF) – India Pavilion, which was hosted by Associated Chambers of Indian Commerce & Industry (ASSOCHAM) and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India.
The Indian Pavilion at Cannes Film Festival was inaugurated on 14th May by MIB Secretary, Mrs. Sushma Singh, Joint Secretary of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Pyarelal, President Cannes Film Festival, India, MS Christian Jeune, Director Film Department, Mr. Prakash Hinduja of Hinduja Group, Mrs.Sujata Dev-Chairman of ASSOCHAM E&M committee, Mr.Jerome Paillad, Executive Director, Marche Du Film, Subhash Ghai-Producer and Director, Mr. DS Rawat- Secretary General, ASSOCHAM and Mr.Ravi Mansukhani, Director Hinduja Ventures.
Large Indian and International dignitaries were present in the inauguration that included Indian superstar Abhishek Bachchan and actress Deepti Navan and Manisha Koirala.
MIB Secretary, Mrs. Sushma Singh released the “Producers Directory” brought out by ASSOCHAM and Mr. DS Rawat gave the vote of thanks. Dignitaries like Sharmila Tagore, Bobby Bedi, Amit Khanna and other Bollywood celebrities also graced the pavilion during the festival.
Mr. Prakash Hinduja stated that bodies like ASSCHOM should aggressively help producers to seek new markets and encourage the younger generation for thinking along international lines and even being Indian, should cater to International tastes. He cited an example of his niece, Mrs. Ambica Hinduja, who will be releasing an Indian International film, “Teen Patti” starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sir Ben Kingsley, Madhavan and others. This film is being marketed at Cannes.
He ended by congratulating ASSOCHAM for taking the lead for bringing Indian Producers in touch with International agents, distributors and buyers and by giving them a platform through the Indian Pavilion at Cannes.
The Party was attended by over 350 guests, which included High Official dignitaries from the Indian and French Government. The Indian ambassador in France, Ranjan Mathai was one of the chief guests and, fashion czarina Ritu Kumar was also present as distinguished Indian guests.
