First Secure Shredding company in England to get NAID AAA Certification

Added: (Fri Feb 06 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Allshred – the first shredding company in England to achieve NAID AAA Certification.

Just two years after it started operations, Chipping Norton Oxfordshire based Allshred Limited is the first shredding company in England to achieve NAID AAA Certification. This follows a detailed audit against the stringent requirements of the international standard carried out by an independent security inspector. The NAID AAA criteria are recognised as the most demanding of all assessments of secure shredding operations in the aspects covered. As well as an annual audit visit, companies will receive an unannounced audit during the year to ensure that the demanding standards are maintained.

The National Association for Information Destruction (NAID) is a not for profit trade association founded in the USA in 1993 to educate business and government about the secure destruction of discarded information. It has grown into a widely respected source of guidance and plays a significant part in promoting legislation to ensure good practice. NAID now has several thousand members across the world. Allshred is a founder member of NAID Europe and one of 22 NAID members in the UK.

When Ian MacKay started Allshred in 2006 he determined that the company would adopt the guidance provided by NAID as the foundation for the policies and procedures. In mid 2006 a new British Standard BS8470 for the Secure Destruction of Confidential Information was published containing guidelines for good practice. Allshred has followed the BS 8470 guidelines from the start.

Now with two years of operations behind it and a growing number of high profile clients, Allshred decided it was time to be measured against the gold standard for security and operations of the business, NAID AAA Certification. The auditor was a former senior police officer who performs all the NAID audits in Europe. The initial review covered employment history, drug screening, confidentiality agreements, vehicle licensing and maintenance, insurance and operating permits. The arrangements for the transfer of shredded material to the paper mills for recycling confirm part of our service to minimise our environmental impact. The final part of the audit was to review the operating procedures and customer documentation before observing a number of shredding visits. It was a relief to be told that we did meet the expected standard and would be recommended for Certification for mobile operation on paper and printed media.

Ian MacKay said, “We are delighted to have this confirmation that we meet the rigorous standards demanded for NAID AAA Certification. To us the security of our customers’ information is paramount. This demonstrates that they can have total confidence in our service. We offer a flexible cost-effective service to our customers, both business organisations and private individuals”.
