Entrepreneur Penny Streeter acquires eighth SA Commercial Property for Ambition 24hours

Pressbox (Press Release) - Entrepreneur Penny Streeter has acquired the freehold for an eighth commercial premises in three years for her medical and engineering staffing company Ambition 24hours. The seven-storey building in the Cape Town CBD was purchased on 29 May 2007 at auction for R27.85 million. The property, 50 on Long, is situated on Long Street in the busy CBD district of Cape Town. Ambition 24hours already owns 13000 sq metre freehold offices in Cape Town, and offices in Bloemfontein, Durban, East London, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria and Alberton.

Penny Streeter is founder and managing director of Ambition 24hours, which has traded for over 10 years in the UK and opened offices in Cape Town in 2004. The company now has a national branch network throughout South Africa and supplies temporary nurses and doctors to government and private hospitals.

Penny Streeter was awarded the OBE (Order of the British Empire) by Queen Elizabeth in the 2005 New Years Honours List for services to women's enterprise and business. She was CBI (Confederation of British Industry) Entrepreneur of the Year, 2003.

Penny Streeter was born in Zimbabwe and educated at Alberton High School she is the daughter of South African publisher and author Peter Stiff and left South Africa for the UK in the mid 1980s.

After leaving school, Penny Streeter worked in the UK recruitment sector. She set up Ambition 24hours in south London and in the first 12 months of trading achieved R 5.7 million of business. In 2002 her company was number one in the London Sunday Times' Fast Track 100 of fastest growing companies - and by 2004 revenue reached R 713 million, from the recruitment and management of 13,500 temporary personnel for the healthcare, teaching and social services sectors in the UK. This has been achieved through organic growth alone and without outside investors or loans.
