EUROFIRST – A FIRST IN EUROPEAN GROUPAGE
Added: (Fri Dec 16 2005)
April 2005 saw Geodis launch EuroFirst, a market leading and innovative transport ‘product’ that covers twenty-five European countries. It has proved to be Europe’s most successful groupage service and has enabled Geodis and its strategic partners to respond more effectively to the growth in European economic exchanges.
Before Eurofirst was launched, Geodis carried out an exhaustive survey of industry influencers, decision-makers and leaders in order to find out their real requirements, particularly regarding export. The survey highlighted three main topics - that shipping managers wish to be kept informed; they want a single contact person and a time limit for providing proof of delivery.
“In our business the customer is king; so, armed with the survey information, Geodis developed the EuroFirst product to meet the needs of the customer,” commented Geodis UK’s Sales and Marketing Director, Martin Doran. “With EuroFirst we now provide the same groupage service to all customers of Geodis’ European subsidiaries. In order to make this a success, Geodis’ 38 import-export hubs now operate standardised procedures.”
”It has been successful since its launch because members of the EuroFirst network share the same business values, use the same operating procedures and have access to a standardised IT network with a central database. A set of key indicators have been used to monitor performance levels which have enabled us to share best practices and handle aspects that are specific to each country. Customers can clearly see the business benefits this product delivers.”
“The investment and restructuring within Geodis during 2004/5 has paid dividends with increased traffic that promises to sustain our steady growth and recognition as a major player in the market. We can positively look towards the future as more and more clients’ use EuroFirst, a service that genuinely manages groupage throughout Europe. By offering regular definite dispatches; on-line shipment tracking; proof of delivery (POD) within 4 days; a quality report provided on request; standardised operating procedures and a single contact person… In fact everything the European shipping managers requested, all in one service. EuroFirst - the future of European groupage!”
