Amazon Is Proving to Be Far More Profitable For Sellers Than Ebay

Added: (Wed Mar 17 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - We’ve all heard of Amazon and Ebay, both large companies that basically serve the same purpose, which is, to help people sell items to others. So why sell on Amazon?

Taxes and Fee’s. Frowning at the sound of these two scary words already? Anybody would. And that’s one of the main problems with Ebay. Ebay charges you fees for list of items you put on for auction, whether it sells or not. So before you decide to sell something, you’ve got to think twice and consider the hidden fees involved. This is one of the main turn off’s that gets to people who want to auction their items. Although the main domain of Ebay is in auctioning, it also gives you a separate option that allows the customer to buy the item right away, but then again, that has fees too.

On the other hand, when you choose to sell on Amazon, you just need to list the items you are selling along with their fixed prices that you put up. Once that’s done, just sit back and relax. No fees are involved here for putting your goods for sale. Also, Amazon gives both parties more security. Here’s how: When a buyer comes across what he wants, he’ll pay the price for it to Amazon. Once the sold item has been received buy the buyer, he will verify and acknowledge receipt of the item to Amazon, after which Amazon will release the payment of the piece to you which will get loaded into your account; Easy and secure with no stress involved.

You will notice however, that the average article price is higher on Amazon as compared to Ebay. So why would buyers want to buy their stuff there? And why should you sell on Amazon? Well, the answer is easy. The higher prices exist because people are simply willing to pay more for an article on Amazon as compared to Ebay. Also, the competition for buying the items on Ebay is higher, with its auction system, which is why it may have a lower average price for the same piece.

And here comes the best part. When you’re new to such websites, they often display your profiles to searches depending on the amount of good ratings and points you have achieved. So a person who’s new needs to work his way up. This is somewhat the system that is followed on ebay, where search results are displayed given higher priorities to the sellers who have a better rating. On the other hand, when you sell on Amazon, you can be sure of the fact that each seller receives the same amount of priority on searches. Nobody is above the other, and there a sense of equality exists.
