118 trades looks for acquisitons in the directory services market as Daniel Corby goes for growth

Added: (Thu Jul 27 2006)

Daniel Corby, CEO and founder of 118 trades is no stranger to high growth companies. He was presided over retail at The Tanning Shop from 1996 to 2002 when the chain remodelled and raised funding through Venture Capitalists. This enabled the business to acheive huge growth. From 2002 to 2004, Daniel Corby was appointed sales director at mobile phone retailer phones4u and in 2 of those 3 years, the mobile retailer was voted Britains fastest growing retailer.

"118 trades is looking for other acquisitons in the directory services business" added Daniel Corby, "our growth has been amazing, but we feel with strong infrastructure in place, we could effectively bolt on other directory businesses at minimal cost and add hugh growth to the 118 business. 118 trades has 40,000 active members across the UK and covers around 70% of the UK population. Based in offices in Chelmsford and India, 118 trades is aiming for true UK coverage by December 2006"

118 trades is an on-line directory with checkable references, helping to reduce the risk of employing a cowboy tradesperson when you next need work doing. Surrey trading standards conducted a survey in 2005 and claimed almost 1 Billion a year is wasted by UK consumers in hiring poor tradespeople. 118 trades feels it has a duty to help promote trusted and reliable tradespeople.

118 trades is planning an AIM floatation in 2007/ 2008 and has recently bolstered its senior team with the appointment of Richard Allan to the board. Richard Allan, who joins 118 group as chairman, was previously CEO at Perry Motor Group plc and will be instrumental in shaping the group going forward.
