118 trades call centre in Calcutta wins Award from Indian Government

The call centre operated by 118 trades in Salt Lake City, Calcutta has won a prestigious award presented by the Indian Government.

The award is for the “Best Managed and Overall Business Process Outsourced facility in West Bengal” which is a very prestigious award to win.

The competition was fierce. Call centres and Business Process Outsourcing facilities is the fastest growth area of the Indian economy with a predicted 2,000 new centres to open across India before 2007.

Daniel Corby, Founder and CEO of 118 trades said “I was delighted to learn that our centre in Salt Lake City has won such a prestigious award. The hard work and tremendous efforts of the people in our Salt Lake centre has now been recognised. This is very good news. 118 trades opened the call centre in the summer of 2005 and we have been very pleased with the centres operations. I am particularly pleased with the enthusiasm and flexible ‘can do’ approach of the people and it is a true breath of fresh air to see such a flourishing operation in India. Indian call centres often receive unjustified bad press, and this is good news for everyone concerned in the call centre business”

118 trades is looking to grow its operation in Salt Lake City shortly and after a period of consolidation, it is expected to start recruiting again from September. 118 trades operates a 24 hour inbound directory services operation from India and a UK sales team which signs up memberships to the directory.

118 trades was founded in 2005 and operates call centres in the UK at Chelmsford and Harlow and last month announced plans to open a new state of the art 450 seat call centre in Chelmsford.
