April 14-18 Cape May Masters Photography Workshop with Harvey Stein, for intermediate and advanced photographers. Lots of one on one time with both Nancy Ori and Harvey Stein. Day sessions include historic walking tour, location shooting in the landscape and town of Cape May, on-location discussions of metering and shooting techniques. Overnight C-41 processing allows for several critique sessions of images created during the workshop. Evening sessions include presentations, critiques of student work and group discussions. Arrivals: 4/14, 2pm wine and cheese reception, formal sessions begin on Thursday 9:30am. Workshop ends on Sunday, April 18 at noon. $300.
April 18-21 Pastels on Location with Stan Sperlak, beginner or intermediate; includes a narrated historic tour, critiques, demonstrations of pastel techniques with architecture, spring blossoms, landscape and shoreline subjects. Held during Tulip Festival. Lots of one-on-one time and portfolio reviews. $250. Workshop begins on Sunday, April 18 at 2pm with wine and cheese reception and ends on Wednesday, April 21 at 5pm.
April 18-21 Creative Photography Techniques with Nancy Ori All ages, beg & inter. No photo experience necessary to do the workshop but students need to bring their own or borrowed color slides with them of any subject matter. Very creative results, yet low tech. Walk away with a new portfolio. Includes: demonstration of Polaroid Image Transfers, Polaroid SX 70 and 600 film manipulations. All machinery and cameras will be supplied. Students supply their own film. Materials list will be supplied upon registration. Workshop begins on Sunday, April 18 at 2pm with wine and cheese reception and ends on Wednesday, April 21 at 5pm. $250.
April 21-23 Sketchbooking with Gerry Heydt, Includes sketching tips and suggestions for recording a personal response to your surroundings by well-known local teacher and exhibiting artist. On-location sketching of major examples of Victorian architecture, interiors, gardens, beaches, wharves and natural areas will be followed by discussions of our work. Includes instruction and demonstrations in small-scale pen, pencil and watercolor paint box sketching, with a focus on portability and ease. Historic architecture tour and tips on “how to photograph your artwork” and making better photographs to draw and paint from by Nancy Ori are also included. Begins Wednesday, April 21 at 2pm with wine and cheese reception and ends on Friday, April 23 at 5pm. $195.
Date TBA Visual Journaling by Michele Bernstein, involves discovering and rediscovering your creative self. Journal work will help keep you interested, motivated and in tune with your authentic self. Lead through a comprehensive and enjoyable program, you will stimulate, enhance and celebrate your own creative spirit. A powerful and magical experience. No artistic experience necessary. $195.
April 24-27 Painting in the Landscape with Gerry Heydt, This workshop in “plein aire” landscape painting welcomes students to a comprehensive oil painting class. Gerry will provide a structured approach to painting, selection, use and care of materials, choice of motif, composition, color mixing, drawing and blocking in a painting and expressive use of brushes and palette knife. Painting will be done on-location in Victorian neighborhoods, natural areas, wharves and beaches. Also, an historic tour, demos on posing and lighting for portraits and tips for photographing your paintings by Nancy Ori. Begins on Saturday, April 24 at 10am requiring students to arrive on Friday evening. Ends on Tuesday, April 27 at 1pm. $250.
April 28-May 1 Hand-Painted Photography with Carolyn Bross, Beg or Interm. Learn to transform your B&W prints with many different coloring agents, such as oils, pastels and chalks. Techniques are demonstrated and easily mastered. Infrared film and the variety of available printing papers will be explored. Shooting on location with Carolyn and Nancy as well as critiques of your work. Opportunity to have your B&W image printed properly in advance to work on at the workshop. Lots of one on one time with instructors. Begins on Wednesday, April 28 at 2pm with wine and cheese reception and ends on Saturday, May 1 at 5pm. Materials list will be supplied. $250.
May 1-4 Landscape and Architecture Photography with Alternative Cameras with Nancy Ori. No experience necessary, all levels and ages. Includes an historic walking tour of town, discussions and demonstrations on the characteristics of pinhole, Widelux, Holga, Polaroid Manipulations, digital, panorama, Polaroid Transfers and more. Learn how to determine exposure. Lots of time for one on one critiques. Includes: use of all cameras, all necessary black and white film will be supplied and on-site processing. Pinhole Camera Kits $45 extra. Begins Sat 2PM with wine and cheese reception and ends on Tuesday, May 4 at 5pm. $300.
May 4-7 Digital Photography Workshop with Dot Kuehn. Beg-Interm. Camera and controls, how is digital photography different?, composition, seeing photographically, down-loading and software packages, printing and emailing your photographs. Help in wading through the pile of information available on cameras, printers, inks, software and hardware. Includes location shooting and lots of feedback. Begins 2pm 5/4. Ends 5pm on 5/7. $250.
A materials list for your workshop, directions and suggestions on lodging will be supplied at registration.
