Artist puts textiles under the microscope


A young Manchester artist is using cutting edge techniques to explore the unseen worlds within textiles and fabrics.

Textile/digital artist Sally Williams is showcasing her contemporary and innovative blend of sculptural textiles and large scale digital imagery at
The Lewis Textile Museum and Art Gallery - Blackburn 24 January – 28 February (Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 4pm).

Sally’s work explores the beautiful unseen architectural landscapes that lie at the microscopic level of textiles, taking you on a journey through the weft and weave of the fibre, uncovering hidden environments to explore.

Sally Williams is currently on the Setting Up Scheme for artists and is based at the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. The Setting Up Scheme is a two year tailored package of financial and professional support, training opportunities and a studio space within a host organisation.

Sally graduated in 2002, her recent exhibitions include 'In the Making' FAD Barcelona, 'Make Me' Manchester
