'Black' released exclusively on Bollywood.tv

London, Wednesday 2nd November 2005.

Bollywood the internet-to-TV (IPTV) channel that broadcasts films 'on demand' in DVD quality over the internet, today added the movie 'Black', one of India's top billing films of 2005 to their site www.bollywood.tv

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali & loosely based on the extraordinary life of Helen Keller, with cues from Hollywood's 1962 film 'the Miracle Worker'(which earned Oscars for Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke), Black is a remarkable and cathartic film about Michelle McNally, an Anglo Indian blind, deaf and mute girl trapped in a lonely twilight world, only able to connect with others by venting her frustrated rage.

As a last resort, her parents put her in the care of Debraj Sahai, a world-weary teacher of the deaf-blind, and not without his own demons, who with tough love and single-minded obsession, teaches her to communicate, to reach out and 'see the light'.

An emotion packed film whose twist lies in Michelle's discovery later in life, that her erstwhile teacher, the man who set her free, is himself now blind and imprisoned by Alzheimers - at times unable to even remember his own name.

Free of the traditional Masala elements, Black has changed Hindi cinema forever, with mesmerising performances from its star cast - Amitabh Bachchan as Debraj Sahai & Rani Mukherjee as (the adult) Michelle & Ayesha Kapoor (Michelle the child).

Black marks a new direction for Bollywood, a direction that will take it to the global audience it deserves, through the medium of IPTV and www.bollywood.tv.
