Westend FC help Asian earthquake survivors

Following their very successful Westend Olympics event, the club have made a £220 donation to the Asian earthquake appeal.

The money was raised from a raffle organised during the morning at the Westend Soccer Centre.

Chairman Ricky Thwaites was full of praise for those who supported the event saying: "The response from parents at the club has been fantastic, and we hope that the money raised will be put to good use by the Appeal organisers."

140 boys and girls participated in the event that was sponsored by Latitude the UK's leading search marketing specialist, and organised by Westend open age player Richard Boustead.

Julie Grundy the Football Development Administrator for the West Riding FA thanked everyone for showing their support.

She commented: "The Westend Olympics has been really enjoyable for the players, and very well organised. It is nice to see one of our local junior teams joining in the National Anti Racism Week of Action in Football campaign."
