VIREDO, "Caprichos" in honor of Goya At KK Originals Fine Art

Added: (Wed Dec 28 2005)

Pressbox (Press Release) - - Santa Ana, CA December 24, 2005 -- KK Originals Fine Art is proud to
present: Viredo's "Caprichos in honor of Goya", on view from Saturday
January 21st to March 4th, 2006.

Inspired by Goya's "Caprichos", Viredo has created a series of works
comprising 5"x5" Oils and Mixed media on Canvas along with
watercolors. Unlike Goya's dark and political "Caprichos", Viredo's
"Caprichos" are full of color and light. Capricho in Spanish means
capricious or whim, exactly how Viredo felt when creating this series
of vibrant and unique paintings.

Viredo is one of only two living painters from a rebellious group of
artists known as "Los Once" (The Eleven), which evolved during the
vibrant 1950's period in Cuba as an alternative to the traditional
European-trained mainstream.

The inspiration for much of Viredo's work comes from the Afro-Cuban
culture of his childhood in Regla. Viredo has often stated that he's
no expert on
Afro-Cuban culture, but just a witness to what he experienced as a
young man. "In my art" he states,"I try to communicate my amazement
at the diversity of humankind that I see around me. Sometimes I try to
show the relationship between music and the visual arts. Other times I
try to pay homage to the great artists of the past. I always return to
the rich canvas of my childhood where so many elements blended
together in so many colors and sounds."

KK Originals Fine Art invites you to meet this great artist in person
during the Artist Reception on Saturday, January 21st, 2006 from 7:00
to 10:00 p.m. It will be an unforgettable experience to meet one of
the two living artists from the original "Grupo Los Once". The gallery
is located at the Artist Village, Santora Arts Building, 207 North
Broadway, Mezzanine level, in the city of Santa Ana, California.
