CHRISTIAN AUTHOR PUBLISHES FIRST NOVEL

Jeffrey W. Bennett, just published his first novel, Under the Lontar Palm. He only recently signed the contract with America House Publishing and is excited to announce its availability. This fast paced fiction story takes place in 1970’s Indonesia and covers the life and adventures of a missionary bush pilot.

“I began writing this mainstream inspirational novel a few years back. After much revising and submitting to many publishing houses, I finally got a contract.” The elated author stated. “This is definitely a milestone.”

There have been many challenges on the way to the finished product. “I must have revised the manuscript ten times.” The original manuscript contained 500 pages. Bennett has since whittled it to a tight 242 pages. “It’s a lengthy process, but like everything else, with the right vision and dedication, it’s completely possible.

It hasn’t been without help. Bennett’s magazine subscriptions played a big part. “I subscribe to Private Pilot, National Geographic, and support Mission Aviation Fellowship. Much of my inspiration and background study came from these sources. After I decided what to write, my mailbox was suddenly inundated with information. God answered my prayers.”

Here is a quick synopsis:
More than anything, John wants to be an airline pilot. Fresh from the Vietnam War, he begins his odyssey flying missionaries over the jungles of Irian Jaya, Indonesia. He plans to stay a short time as he gains flying experience. However, he didn’t count on meeting Marta, a widowed missionary.
Marta will never leave the mission field where she has worked since her husband was killed by a warring tribe. She is dedicated to evangelizing the primitive, but developing nation.
In spite of different motivations, the two are somehow drawn to one another. In the midst, both must deal with their feelings as they experience the outcome of tribal warfare, trouble making miners, and humorous villagers.
