A recent survey by Virgin Money Travel Insurance has awarded Dorset vacation destination, Bournemouth as Britain’s unofficial ‘best place for a holiday’. The seaside town came top of the charts in a vote alongside 66 other British vacation rental resorts.
The south-east of England was well represented at the top end of the survey, with fellow coastal resorts, Brighton and Portsmouth coming in second and third respectively. These latest statistics suggest that British families are becoming more inclined to enjoy a beach holiday within their own borders. Bournemouth ranked most favourably in a variety of topics, ranging from weather, cost of a week-long hotel stay, the quality of restaurants and beaches to the number of nearby tourist attractions.
Interestingly, capital city, London ranked fifth in the best place for a British holiday, with those surveyed citing the lack of a beach as the main reason families tend to head elsewhere.
