The 6th Annual " Whole Whotta Love"
Added: (Tue Sep 09 2008)
Pressbox (Press Release) -
Enter the Houses of the Holy and pay homage to one of rock’s most legendary bands
2008 marks the 40th anniversary of the year four aspiring musicians changed the name of their band from ‘The New Yardbirds’ to ‘Led Zeppelin’, then changed the face of rock n roll forever. Incredibly it also marks the 60th birthday of the mercurial lead vocalist Robert Plant.
Showered with accolades as extravagant as ‘the world’s first heavy metal band’, ‘the biggest band in the world’ and ultimately ‘the greatest rock band ever’, Led Zeppelin achieved everything a rock and roll band could ever hope for…and much more.
In celebration of the incredible longevity of their music, CC Entertainment is bringing its hugely popular Led Zeppelin ‘Whole Lotta Love’ show back to the Basement on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 September.
This will be the 6th annual outing of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ and anticipation is already running high after exceptional sell out shows for the past five years.
Music fans will remember the incredible popularity of Led Zeppelin’s London reunion show late last year. With only 20,000 seats available, tickets offices received an unprecedented 20 million requests from fans desperate to experience Led Zeppelin live.
The CCE Zeppelin show looks like being as close as Australian rock fans are likely to get to experiencing ‘the Mothership’ and the promoters have pulled out all stops for this show.
CCE’s annual shows, celebrating the likes of Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, The Beatles and The Police, are finding an increasingly large audience due to their point of difference – they are not your standard dress up/mimic tribute, rather they feature a collection of some of the country’s finest singers and musicians who come together to celebrate, reinterpret and recreate the magic of bands from the top echelons of the rock n roll hall of fame, all under the musical direction of Joseph Calderazzo.
Zeppelin fans can expect spectacular renditions of classics such as Kashmir, Black Dog, Battle of Evermore, Immigrant Song, Rock'n'Roll and of course Whole Lotta Love.
Six superb lead vocalists including Steve Balbi (Noiseworks/Move Trees), Zkye, Danny Marx-Young, Simon Meli (Ooh La La), Lex Koritni (Koritni) and Amanda Baker (Music Oz Best Live Act ’07) will be bringing to life the unmistakeable vocal prowess of Robert Plant.
Guitar maestros Peter Northcote, who recently supported Joe Satriani at The Enmore, and Joseph Calderazzo will deliver the screaming and melodic riffs of Jimmy Page, Dario Bortolin (Jimmy Barnes Band) will provide the backbone groove of John Paul Jones on bass, whilst the spirit of John Bonham will be channelled on drums by Gordon Rytmeister. Add to this an accompanying string section of classical virtuosos including Adrian Keating (Aust. Opera – violin) Claire Brassil (Aust. Opera - cello) and Kristy Conrau (Syd. Symphony - cello) and you can see why Whole Lotta Love is guaranteed to deliver Rock ’n Roll both at its most pure and most sophisticated!
