Bogotá, October 25, 2005. Through a worldwide calling open last year Colombian pianist and mathematician, Jorge Hernán Peláez, was able to lead over 120 independent artists from more than 20 countries to protest against war with their works and proposals such as songs, poems, lyrics, photographs and video clips.

Peláez, creator of "Music Against War", showed and delivered a collection of the works which arrived from Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Cyprus, DR Congo, Ecuador, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Kenya, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Spain, Sweden and USA, to the Representant of the United Nations in Colombia, Mr. ALFREDO WITSCHI-CESTARI, on October 24 during the closing ceremony of the United Nations Week (celebrations of its 60 anniversary), in an attempt to show the world the rejection against war through an artistic and peaceful channel. Details of the event on the official United Nations website: http://www.nacionesunidas.org.co/noticia1.asp?Id=317

All the artistic expresions received in digital format will be uploaded weekly on the website www.musicagainstwar.com. The international call will remain open to worldwide activists, students, writers, scientists, artists, actors, musicians, filmmakers and celebrities until December 15, 2005.

His personal peace proposition began one year ago with the composition and production of his first piano album "Music Against War", written as a tribute to war victims. Specifically, the artist is donating 50% of the sales of his album to a non-profit organization, which will manage and control the funds, with the final objective of investing them in musical education for war victims. Jorge Hernán Peláez has performed in 8 concerts in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and Baranquilla before an audience of 5000 people.

As of today, with his Spanish version of the website www.musicacontralaguerra.com , and live concerts performed during 2003, Jorge Hernan has achieved enough sales to guarantee that Omar Diaz, an injured soldier of military forces, could begin musical studies at University Los Andes, in Bogotá, Colombia on August 2003. Donations were made to the non-profit organization Querido Soldado (Dear Soldier), which was created as a free web-based channel so civil society could write encouraging and supportive e-mails to Colombian soldiers www.queridosoldado.org

Jorge Hernán Peláez is a 33 year old mathematician and independent musician from Bogotá, Colombia, who writes his music through a Stochastic Musical Composition method, technique that combines mathematical formulas such as probabilistic and random series, with the art of creating music.
