Swedish Interior Design Launches History Resource Section On Their Website Covering The Antique Gust
Added: (Wed Feb 13 2008)
Swedish interior design has compiled a section of historical information to provide background to the swedish furniture design movements from 1700 - 1930
It looks at the background in social terms and how various furniture shapes developed in the historical context.
This is available to students, interior design journalists and other interested parties.
The section includes descriptions of how the pieces were made, what use the Gustavian, Rococo and other furniture was put to and how the Famous Mora clock was developed and built in the 1800s.
Visitors can also see examples of real Gustavian , rococo and mora pieces on the site to compare to the historical descriptions.
These history pages are available at

In particular Gustavian furniture provides a far wider range of colour and shape than most people are familiar with due to the modern 'reproduction' trend for white swedish furniture.
