Spend Some Time In The Tall Cotton!

Added: (Mon May 08 2006)

Hey, Neighbor! Would you like to spend some time in the tall cotton? Now you can step back into a corner of Dixie that's just a little bit behind the curve, with "Tall Cotton: The Cotton County Chronicles." Join Butter Brown, Archie Claude Dill, Little Claude Little, the LaFrance Triplets - Bonette, Lonette and Pearl, Clovis Booch, Judge L.C.Q.L. Cleveland and all the other folks who live life a shade off the main line in the county the rest of the state forgot.

Author Edward Southerland has drawn a warm and gently funny protrait of the characters of small town America in a time not so long ago.

A native of Texas, Southerland draws on his experiences working on the railroad, as a lawyer, and other jobs he will no longer speak of, to create the characters of Cotton County. After living in Georgia for 30 years, where he practiced law and worked in television, he moved back to Texas and became a columnist and feature writer for the Sherman Herald Democrat so he could get some real chicken-fried steak and beef barbecue.

Southerland plans to begin the first leg of his promotional tour for "Tall Cotton" this summer starting in Atlanta, Georgia. An award winning poet and storyteller, he has entertained many groups and organizations with his tall tales and cowboy poetry.

Information on 2006 tour dates and where to purchase "Tall Cotton" can be found at www.buffalograsspress.com, or by contacting Mr. Southerland at the Herald Democrat at 903-893-8181 X2282.
