Redline Aviation Security Ltd delivers the first Aviation Security Managers’ Refresher course to Highlands & Islands Airports Ltd
Redline Aviation Security Ltd (RAS) has delivered the first UK Aviation Security Managers’ Refresher course to Highlands & Islands Airports Ltd (HIAL). Imminently expected to become a requirement under Direction 12b, this refresher course will be mandatory for all DfT accredited security managers who completed initial training more than 36 months ago.
HIAL was the first company in the country to see the benefits of bringing its managers fully up to date in all crucial areas of aviation security and appointed RAS to deliver the course to 12 of its senior and station managers. Sumburgh, Kirkwall, Dundee and Inverness were amongst the airports represented, as well as HIAL’s head office corporate operational support team.
The course covered all of both the mandatory and optional modules as laid out by TRANSEC. The course was monitored by Mr Phil Budgen, Head of Training & Recruitment, TRANSEC, and Mrs Emma Russell, Industry Training Manager, TRANSEC. The individual modules covered aspects as seemingly diverse as the searching of facilities and aviation security legislation.
After the course Malcolm Hay, the Air Traffic Services Manager, commented that he had “Benefitted from the refresher” and that it was “a useful update”, and David Blackman, the Kirkwall Airport Manager, said that the course included “excellent presentations in a co-operative atmosphere.”
James Termini, the RAS Course Manager, feels that HIAL has proven itself to be highly proactive in the field of aviation security training. “Redline are delighted to have been chosen to deliver this critical refresher training to HIAL. We share the same belief that targeted, high quality training is essential in securing our national airport infrastructure and look forward to working closely with HIAL in the future.” said Termini.
As part of The National Aviation Academy (NAA) Redline are well positioned to deliver all mandatory aviation security training and have just become the first company outside of Cranfield University to gain governmental accreditation to deliver Recognition of Firearms and Explosives (RFX) instructors’ refresher training. “This is a milestone in the development of RAS and for the aviation security training industry as a whole.” said Mark Rawson, Director of RAS.
