Pressbox (Press Release) -
Atomino Art Festival is the first international festival of interdisciplinary arts and music that brings together experimental artists from all over the world. From 27th to 29th august visitors and artists can be part of a huge art-event and risky experiment: a mash up of different kinds of artistic expressions, multimedia art and contemporary music. Exhibition meets Dancefloor. White Cube was yesterday.
"We want to bring experimental art closer to the public, this is why admission is free to all events including live concerts"
Tina Pagel, Coordinator
Artists from France, USA, UK, China, Taiwan, Spain, Russia, Ireland, Finland, Argentina and of course Germany will present their experimental works in Atomino 2010 in Crimmitschau, Germany. "We define 'experimental' as progressive art forms which are mainly non-commercial and sometimes weird" explains Tina Pagel, Coordinator of the Festival. Weird or progressive - the visitor can create his own definition using all his senses: the Festival brings modern dance, abstract painting, concrete poetry, electronic and contemporary music, robot performances, experimental cinema, living installations and video-battles.
"We want to balance international participation with local and regional artists in order to favor cultural mash up and freshness"
Tina Pagel, Coordinator
The event will take place in Crimmitschau, a city very near Altenburg (Leipzig) and easy to reach by plane with Ryanair. Textilmuseum was selected as the main venue for the festival. The building is an old clothing factory that was reconverted to a museum after the Fall of Berlin Wall. The production line and the machines are still there, as time stands still. In this atmosphere visitors will experience artistic works that will revitalise the in- and outdoor spaces. From video art to open-air-concerts, the collaborative character is very present, interaction is the credo.
"Artists' collaborative work is one of the main objectives"
Diego Gálvez, curator
There is a nice open air space in the area around the museum where visitors can relax, eat, drink or hear live music. The local swimmingpool is 400 mts. away. It will host some live performances and maybe will be a good excuse to have a dip in the water when the weather is hot. In the surroundings visitors will also find a forest plenty of paths to have a nice walk.
A special camping will be provided in the area of the Textilmuseum. It is space for around 80 tents that will be granted to earlybird reservations. The price for the camping is 10 eur per person for all the festival. If you didn't make up your mind yet to come to Crimmitschau, then please notice that Ryanair flies to Altenburg from 3 european cities: London, Alicante and Barcelona. Additional information on how to reach Crimmitschau can be found in the official site atomino.eu Furthermore, Atomino Art Festival is present in all the main social networks like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo and many more. The organizers are thinking big: the event will be worldwide live-broadcasted via Internet through Livestream, one of the main partners. The ambitious aim: bringing experimental art closer to the public and becoming the reference experimental art festival in Europe by 2016.
