Pressbox (Press Release) -
Most computer users have heard about adware, malware, spyware and other types of malicious software. However, many are not sure as to how these can affect their computers, and this is where the problem lies. Many viruses and infections are caused partly by a lack of user awareness, and that is why a lot of hackers and malicious software authors target those interested in celebrity and entertainment websites.
Internet crooks often use the names of famous people to lull surfers into a false sense of security and reel them in with links to what they claim is the hottest gossip and pictures of the stars.
But by clicking them, these links can automatically download an invisible virus or so-called spyware to a user's PC.
According to research carried out by McAfee, a staggering one in ten mentions of Cameron Diaz's name tested positive for online threats when search terms such as "Cameron Diaz and downloads", "Cameron Diaz and wallpaper" and "Cameron Diaz and photos" were used.
"I am actually amazed at the number of people I come across who actually have no internet protection on there computers" States Jay Stamford, web developer at FreeTrialSpyware.Net
