Habitat for Humanity’s Cars Donations for Homes

Supporting rebuilding communities ravaged by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Habitat for Humanity’s Cars for Homes car and vehicle donation program is using the revenues from donation amount to sponsor one complete home and energy saving gadgets to others being built by Ginger Ford Habitat for Humanity.
Cars for Homes™ employees and Habitat for Humanity volunteers from ten different states, that includes partners corporate world part like Waste Management and Charter Communications. They are coming together with Ginger Ford Habitat affiliate this week to start building a house for a widow-Rosario Louisa August, and her four children. Rosario, Brittany, Alicia, Quinton, and Terry were dwelling with family from the day their home was lost due to the hurricanes. Wishing to support others to get their homes, Rosario will appear on site this Saturday with other would be Habitat homeowners who are working hard to help them qualify to buy the Habitat homes.
After a year of the said hurricanes, Habitat for Humanity carries on to fulfill its commitment to build affordable, decent, and simple housing in the Gulf. Through Habitat’s Operation Home Delivery, Ginger Ford Habitat and 23 other Habitat affiliates in the Gulf have got support in form of building materials, technical assistance, grants, and volunteers. Framing packages produced by Habitat affiliates across the United States are shipped to storm-affected areas. Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City, Missouri, built and delivered ten framing packages that Ginger Ford affiliate will turn into affordable homes this year, including the one that is being started this week.
Blair Edwards, executive director of Ginger Ford Habitat, explained “Our affiliate is increasing the number of builds from two-a-year to 12 in the next 12 months. This sounds awesome and it is; however, with the increased costs for land and delays obtaining the services of plumbers and electricians, it has been quite a challenge. OHD has provided us with resources to make things easier, but in a situation such as this, money doesn’t cure all problems. With Car Donation Nj for Homes and corporate sponsors like Waste Management and Charter Communications helping onsite with resources and employees, our job becomes much easier!”
