Pressbox (Press Release) - PRESS RELEASE 7th November 2005 immediate release
Girl Power
Thursday November 24th 2005 will be a date everyone will remember as the day it happened - equality for women.
Why? Because in this year's Bards v. Rappers contest at the Pen-y-Bryn during Llanast Llanrwst, 2 women will compete where no two women have competed before - on opposing sides of this huge 'war of the words'.

Gwyneth Glyn is a writer, a singer, a dramatist and lots of other things, and she's succesful at everything she does - she's on the bards' team.
Cofi Bach is the best known and most popular female rapper on the Welsh music scene - she's on the rapper's team.

On Thursday November 24th 2005 they will be battling it out against each other as well as against other members of the opposing teams for the crown of Champions. The contest consists of a series of challenges - the bards have to rap and the rapers have to create poetry, and at the end, its a free for all where the last one standing wins the points for their team.

Iwan Williams, one of the organisers of Llanast Llanrwst said 'This year's Bards v. Rappers contest is one of the most eagerly awaited contests since the first ever contest 3 years ago. Then there was a lot of hype about who would win, and the teams were made up of only men. But this year there is an added element of potentially the girls beating the boys as well.'

The teams line ups are as follows:
The Poets: Geraint Lovgreen, Hywel Williams, Iwan Llwyd, Gwyneth Glyn and Aneirin Karadog
The Rappers: Ed Holden, Steffan Cravos, Barry Thomas, MC Saizmundo and Cofi Bach.
With Dewi Prysor adjudicating and Dyl Mei supplying the backing music.

Entry is free and the contest begins at 8pm
