Flying around the world in 5 month vs sailing around the world in 2 years

Pressbox (Press Release) - My original plan was to sail solo around the world in a 27 foot sailboat, but a couple of months before departure I decided to fly around the world instead.

Time is precious. If I had sailed around the world it would have taken a minimum of 2 years and one of those years would have been spent on the oceans. My sailboat had a max speed of around 15 km / h and a plane has an average speed of about 850 km / h so it is no need to wonder which one is the faster.
