Firm's Crusade To Improve Children's Halloween Safety

Pressbox (Press Release) - One of the UK’s largest fancy dress retailers is giving away fluorescent whistles to improve safety for young trick or treaters this Halloween.



Bosses at Wonderland Party, which recorded £2.2m turnover in 2008-09, are to provide the eye-catching whistles with every child’s costume sold (while stocks last), to protect those who may find themselves in dangerous situations on October 31st.



And they have also written a free report, entitled ‘Five Ways to Keep Your Kids Safe at Halloween’, which is available at their website, www.wonderlandparty.com.



Managing Director Jozef Machnicki said: “The nights will be starting to draw in soon, and while we want our children to have as much fun as possible, it has to be in a safe environment.



“There is often an increase in road accidents at Halloween, and children could also be at risk from certain individuals who prey on young people.



“Children should always stay in groups, hopefully with adult supervision, at this time of year but the whistles make a loud and eye-catching back-up plan.”



Other dangers for young people at Halloween include costumes catching fire, masks which obscure their vision, and treats which could affect those with food allergies (particularly those containing nuts).



Jozef Machnicki said: “We recommend children wear bright, reflective, flame retardant clothing; take torches with them, and plenty of change for phoneboxes; and inspect treats before eating.



“They should also use non-toxic face make-up instead of masks, avoid unfamiliar pets and animals, and only visit well-lit houses.”
