Here's the back story from the creator:
After living in London for some time, I began to notice something at the cinemas around town. Even more often at the smaller, independent ones. Almost every time I went to the cinema, I saw a number of people at the movies alone.
At first, I thought maybe they just wanted some time alone. And I'm sure there are people who go solo for that reason. But after see a thinking and a few informal polls, I came to the conclusion that sometimes it's just hard to find someone to go see that scary, independent or foreign film that you are dying to see.
And that's how I came up with the concept of a place to meet new people based on movie tastes.
After development began, I also realized the concept had a lot of potential in the world of online dating. Where do a lot of people go on first dates? The movies of course. So why not meet someone with a similar movie interest?
So that is how findfilmfriends.com came to be. I launched my first fully functional beta version in February 2011. There are still new features in the works, and we will be constantly improving and tweaking things. If you have any suggestions, problems or comments, please let us know!
