Estate Of Late William Clarke Releases New Live CD

Added: (Mon Oct 03 2005)

A new live William Clarke CD has been released This new CD of previously unreleased material, entitled William Clarke: Live In Germany, was recorded when he was on tour in Bremen, Germany. This CD features ten tracks, Blowin' Like Hell, She's Dynamite, Lookin' to the Future, I Cried All Last Night, All Night Long, Iodine in My Coffee, Educated Fool, Been Around The world, One Room Country shack, Lollipop Mama, features John "Marx" Markowski on guitar, Eddie Clark on drums, and Willie Brinlee on Bass. Markowski sings a Charles Brown number, I cried All Night on track four. This CD taken from remastered tapes is "so dead on that you swear you were front row, center." and clearly establishes Clarke as one of the finest on the harmonica, as if this were ever questioned.

It is rumored that this will not be the last CD of Clarke's previosly unreleased music Jeanette will release. Before Bill died, he went to Pacifica Studios in Los Angeles, where he picked up tapes that had sitting around for some fifteen years which he had rebaked and gave to her, this just two days before what would have been his last scheduled gig. Clarke died of congestive heart failure and a bleeding ulcer in 1996. He was 45.

Clarke recorded for Alligator Records with the proviso that he have full artistic control over everything he recorded, the only Alligator artist permitted this artistic license, he recorded often two to three numbers for every one that he would submit to Alligator. These were all finished takes, all with merit, it was just that those he would submit were his personal favorites. Jeanette is in possession of hundreds of tracks of unreleased music Markowski is said to have hundreds of hours of recorded tracks that he did while Clarke's guitarist. As yet, this new CD is available only through Jeanette Clarke-Lodovici at jlodovici@aol.com

Jeanette Clarke-Lodovici's account of the final days of her late husband will appear in the online publication www.crossharpchronicles.com as of October 1st, 2005.
