Pressbox (Press Release) -
DirectRooms.com reveals that the Royal Air Force Museum will be showcasing a series of special reenactments of the historic Battle of Britain as part of the conflict’s 70th anniversary.
If weather permits on the Sunday of the event, two of the original aircraft used in the World War II battle, the Spitfire and the Hurricane, will be taking to the skies as part of a fly past for visitors.
Within the museum living history areas will feature reenactments of key events and there will be performances by the Barnet Band and the Royal Air Force President’s Band in the Bomber Hall.
People staying in hotels London attending the weekend can also go and see the outdoor vintage vehicle display or listen to the secret history of the battle from the museum’s Department of Research and Information Services.
The museum is open from 10:00am to 6:00 pm both days and entry is free for all ages. Visitors can also watch free screenings of ‘The Battle of Britain’ and ‘Dark Blue World’ at the museum’s 250 seat cinema.
Unique archive footage from the battle will also be on show in the cinema from 11am to 1pm. Members of the public also won’t want to miss the opportunity to create and take home their own free model Spitfire, courtesy of the Airfix events team.
