Added: (Tue Jun 30 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - DBA Group, Cambridge’s award winning Chartered Accountancy Practice has launched its ‘Technology Business Starter Guide’. David Blair, CEO of the DBA Group has written the book based on decades of experience assisting early stage technology companies to raise finance and make their money go further.

This A5 book provides entrepreneurs operating in the hi-tech arena sound commercial advice to help in developing their business plan and managing its effective execution. DBA Group has worked with over 40 companies and 20 specialist funds to deploy in excess of £60 million in the early stage technology sector.

Hugh Parnell, Great Eastern Investment Forum commented on the book: "This is a 'little blue book' of immense value to anyone planning to set up a new business, especially with a novel technology as its core. What would often have taken a novice businessman month’s to learn and understand has been conveniently condensed into just 20 pages of compact, relevant and insightful wisdom. David Blair has compiled his years of experience into a pocket guide of top quality advice and straight talking which will surely help many on their first steps of an entrepreneurial journey."

David Blair, CEO DBA Group said: “Even though times are hard for businesses, finance is still available for sound propositions. Hi-tech and biotech start-up companies need to be aware that there is more to growing a business than producing a world beating concept and registering a company. If there is no focus on how to market the product, manage the resources and establish proper control structures in the new business, then the chances of success are limited. Our book presents a practical guide to the information that hi tech entrepreneurs will need to keep themselves legal and on track.”

Blair continues; "To succeed in this space entrepreneurs need to ensure they have the right team with the right blend of skills at the right time. Companies have to have people who can ensure that the money doesn't get used up too quickly-because its one thing to make accounting losses, but you only run out of cash once. Running a successful business is about more than just cash flow; entrepreneurs need to hold the strategic vision whilst managing the nuts and bolts of the company's day-to-day activities.”

The book is available free of charge by emailing techguide@dbagroup.co.uk or by telephoning 01223 202 166
