For their Advent concert at the Grosvenor Chapel on 17th December 2009, London Concord Singers, conductor Malcolm Cottle, will be performing two contemporary British choral pieces, by Keith Roberts and Jonathan Dove. Keith Roberts Veni and Jonathan Dove's I am the day will be performed alongside by music by Praetorius, Scheidt, Walter, Jakobs, Hammerschmidt, Gibbons, Guerrero and Mendelssohn.

Jonathan Dove's I am the day was commissioned by the Spitalfields Festival and first performed at Christ Church, Spitalfields, in 1999 by the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, conductor Richard Marlow.

Keith Robert's Veni sets the Latin text of the O Antiphons, which were originally used as Antiphons to the Magnificat at Vespers during Advent. Veni was written for Canticum, conductor Mark Forkgen, and first performed by them in 2000 at the Temple Church. Keith Roberts is an ex-chorister of Westminster Cathedral and an ex-choral scholar of King's College, Cambridge. He is currently Choral Director for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Leeds and director of the Honley Male Voice Choir
