CODIE PREVOST AND BAND GET 10 NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2008 SCMA AWARDS

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – Codie Prevost woke up to great news last month – he is among the top nominees for the 2008 Saskatchewan Country Music Association Awards. Out of a possible 16 categories, Prevost and his band pick up 10 nominations this year.

The nominations include;

-Fan's Choice Entertainer;
-Male Vocalist of the Year;
-Song of the Year - Shinin River;
-Single of the Year - Next Weekend;
-Back Up Band of the Year.

As well as individual Codie Prevost Band nominations for;
- Drums - Charles Dumont;
- Fiddle - Allison Tymiak;
- Bass - Al Leblanc;
- Guitar - Rich McFarlane.

Al Leblanc is also up for “Manager of the Year”, an award he has won in the past for managing Codie.

"It's a great feeling to be nominated and this year has definitely been one of the best for me," said Prevost. "To get the recognition is enough, all of us (Codie Prevost Band) have worked really hard this year and it’s starting to pay off."


Codie is no stranger to the SCMA Awards and came away with 2 awards out of his 4 nominations in 2006 for “Rising Star” and “Album of the year”. He gives credit for this years 10 nominations to touring extensively with a newly formed band and to the immense success of his latest two singles, “Shinin River” and “Next Weekend”.

“This past year I took some time to form a band that I could go out on the road with and bring the show to a whole new level,” explains Codie. “What I didn’t expect was to find band members that I would bond so well with and that gave as much energy as I do during the shows.”

2008 will see Codie Prevost releasing his follow up to “The Road Ahead” and prepare for a cross Canada tour. He will also be releasing his 1st single from his new album in the coming weeks.
