What is Orthodontics?
Orthodontics is a special field of dentistry that can correct misaligned teeth. If your teeth are crooked, gappy or crowded a dentist that specialises in orthodontics using clear braces may be the way forward for you.
What Is An Orthodontist?
An orthodontist is a dentist with specialised training in orthodontics or braces. An orthodontist should be registered with the GDC and regularly attend further training in orthodontic treatments such as clear braces or Inman Aligners.
What Types of Clear Braces Are There?
Types of braces available are:
- Inman Aligner; removable invisible braces; a quick way of straightening front teeth
- Clearstep invisible braces can move teeth a lot – good for mild crowding
How Much Will Clear Braces Cost?
The cost of clear braces starts at around £1500 for either the upper arch or the lower arch. The orthodontist who specialises in clear braces or Inman Aligners will be able to advise you further.
Advantages of Orthodontics
Orthodontics can be non invasive. Sometimes it may be necessary to remove teeth or drill healthy teeth. But you can still keep your natural teeth look.
Fixed Orthodontics
Traditional braces like metal braces or ‘train tracks are also great at moving teeth. They can be quicker than clear braces. They are also cheaper.
Where Should I Go For Orthodontic Treatment With Clear Braces?
Orthodontic treatment should only be carried out by an appropriately qualified cosmetic dentist or orthodontist who specialises in clear braces or Inman Aligners.
