Candi Miller to appear at Birmingham Book Festival

Added: (Tue Oct 03 2006)

Candi Miller, author of Salt & Honey, is to appear at the Birmingham Book Festival on the 9th October. The novel is being promoted by Waterstone’s and has received interest from over 15 countries around the world.

The event is to take place at the Orange Studio and starts at 7.30pm. Candi will be in conversation with writer-in-residence and author Maeve Clarke and will also be showing slides from her expedition into the Kalahari where she lived with one of the San tribes as part of her ten-year research for the novel.

Guests will receive a complementary drink on arrival – including the opportunity to try a celebratory ‘Salt & Honey Cocktail’ – and they will also be able to pick up a signed copy of the hit novel. Entrance is free though places are limited so tickets for this event should be booked by calling 0121 303 2323 or online at: www.secure.ticketsbirmingham.com/discount.asp

Miller, who teaches creative writing at Birmingham and Wolverhampton Universities, commented: “I'm looking forward to being interviewed for the event by my former classmate, Maeve Clarke, and Birmingham is where I cut my creative writing teeth so it's an honour to celebrate Salt & Honey in a city whose students have taught me so much.”

Tom Chalmers, Managing Director of publisher Legend Press, added: “With Salt & Honey on its way to being an international success, it promises to be an excellent event at one of the UK’s best festivals. Particularly with October being Black History Month and Candi’s links to Birmingham, we are expecting an evening not to be missed.”
