Caito's Art and Music Collide
Added: (Fri Jul 08 2005)
Steve Caito has emerged as one of the most highly collected Las Vegas Artists. His Pollock like paintings are being bought up by savvy collectors and galleries worldwide. One recent First Friday celebration in Downtown Las Vegas had Caito painting his 12 foot by 16 foot large canvas right in the middle of colarado avenue in front of his growing throng of fans, both young and old. "I never studied Pollock or his work until so many people started making the inevitable comparisons to my style and my process." While over 250 people watched in awe as Caito worked around his large canvas like a dancer on a stage. Caito was almost in a trance like state as both the niose and the music playing didnt seem to affect him. Other artists watched as Caito both painted and performed his painting. One young music student from the University Of Nevada Las Vegas was peppering his assistant about his band playing for Caito while he paints in the upcoming First Friday. When is it done yelled a curious fan to Caito's assistant Patrick Drawer, he just smiled. When the painting was finally signed some 2 hours and 33 minutes later, very few people had wandered off from this performance of art. Caito silently told his assistant "its done" which brought about a huge ovation from his spectators. Caito is a fixture in the Las Vegas Arts scene and is exhibited in the Burnham Gallery in Las Vegas. His next performance is Friday the fifth of august in Downtown Las Vegas when Caito will paint a 12 foot by 12 foot canvas. Oh and by the way a young band will be playing music for him that night said assistant Patrick Drawer. What kind of music does Caito like to paint too? It doesnt matter said Drawer "he doesnt hear it."
