CLS launches new website
- another successful business partnership

The City of London Sinfonia, London’s elite chamber orchestra, is pleased to announce the launch of its new website, created and sponsored by the South Wales-based company, Slick-Click Networks.

CLS, until recently, was in a familiar situation to many arts organisations; possessing the basics - a functioning website, but not the resources to realise their full potential. The partnership with Slick-Click, now in its third year, has enabled this to happen.

Like all of their websites, the new www.cls.co.uk site employs sophisticated databases that
work behind the surface of the site, allowing full management of the site to be possible from the CLS offices. This set-up will ensure accuracy of information, save ongoing maintenance & management costs, and at the same time underlines the long-term approach to the partnership.

Ticket-buying links, clear access information and the building of e-list’s are other key aspects which will mean that the website will soon save the company both valuable time and money. Now that Stage 1 is complete plans are in place to embrace audio and video material on the site.

To date Slick-Click has focused on designing and managing websites largely for Wales-based organisations. The CLS relationship marks their first venture into London and into the arts world.

The orchestra’s other links in Wales include: Richard Hickox (CLS Music Director) entering his second season as Principal Conductor of BBC National Orchestra of Wales and a collaboration last season with BBC NOW in a Britten/Shostakovich series at the Barbican. Richard Hickox will be meeting and thanking members of the website team in Wales later this week.

CLS, with their strong links in the business community, have demonstrated again that much can be achieved mutually by working in partnership. The CLS/Slick-Click model is undoubtedly one that many arts organisations dream of.

We are all still learning how effective the web is at providing quality information.
The CLS site is an excellent demonstration that content is king. Slick Click’s object-oriented management system allows all the site’s information to be updated instantaneously and will be a tremendous benefit to the orchestra and its followers throughout the world.
Alan Clarke, CEO, Slick Click Networks

The new website will enable CLS’s audiences and other supporters to learn about every aspect of the orchestra’s activities; our future concerts and education plans and the many opportunities to enter into partnership with us.
I have great pleasure in commending the site to you and hope that it will be a gateway and an encouragement to come and experience the excitement of a live performance by CLS wherever we appear throughout the UK.
Stephen Carpenter, General Manager, CLS
