Brown Paints Edinburgh

Added: (Tue Oct 06 2009)

Peter Brown, one of the U.K.'s most collected contemporary artists who made his name on the streets of Bath and London painting everyday life in these quintessentially English cities puts on a show of 55 stunning oil paintings of Scotland's capital city Edinburgh at Alexander Meddowes Fine Art.
Over a four month period in fifteen trips of 3 or 4 days Brown has produced a wonderful portfolio of work of the city from it's dockland area of Leith to the centre and it's castle; of both old and new town and from fresh sunny mornings to its thick haars (sea mists), sodden rainy days and long summer twilight evenings.
For many years the artist has been known more affectionately as 'Pete the Street' due to his stolwart habit of painting through all weathers in front of his subject.
The Edinburgh show can be viewed online at http://www.alexandermeddowes.com/peterbrown/ and the artist's own web site www.peterbrownneac.com.
the gallery Alexander Meddowes Fine Art is open weekdays from 10am -1pm at 39 Royal Terrace, Edinburgh, EH7 5AH Telephone: 0131 558 1000 where you can see the exhibition. Prices range from £1,000 to £12,000.
