Brass Neck for Sir Fred
Added: (Mon Mar 09 2009)
March 9, 2009 -- Scottish artist Stewart Moore has a cast-iron way to highlight the bare-faced cheek of former RBS CEO, Sir Fred Goodwin.
He's making a BRASS NECK and raising £703,000 for charity -- the amount Sir Fred stands to get every year under his golden parachute pension.
Moore says he was moved to act by the size of the RBS' ex-chief's reward for failure.
"You have somebody like this who ran the bank into the ground so that it has to be supported by the government, and yet he has been rewarded with this amazing amount of money for doing a poor job. And it made me wonder about all those folk out there who're doing good work for the public good -- are they being rewarded?"
"What do you get for the man who has everything? He needs a brass neck to hold his head up."
Prague, Czech Republic-based Moore plans to auction his life-size brass neck with the "Goodwinnings" going to people and groups who are improving the lot of the needy in the United Kingdom.
