Glastonbury may already have sold out, but this year there is an “alternative” alternative.
In keeping with the organic principles of the host farm, STONE 2002 is an environmental arts and healing festival featuring a wide range of local artists, healers and entertainment.
The main focus of the week will be the construction of a large labyrinth that will be etched into the ground around an ancient standing stone on the farm. The stone marks a ley-line (energy line), which runs across Bodmin Moor - an area rich in pre-history monuments. According to Hamish Miller (author of ‘The Sun and the Serpent’), “…the stone has the healing properties”.
The festival will be held at South Penquite Farm from the 17th – 21st June. People will have the chance to participate in a range of full day art workshops and healing sessions, culminating in a celebration of the summer solstice sunrise on the Friday. There will be nightly entertainment including story telling, poetry, fire eating, music and comedy.
“We want to build a real sense of community over the week, leading up to a meaningful celebration of a significant date in the calendar.” – Dominic Fairman, organic farmer and event organiser.
Tickets range from £40 for the day to £145 for the whole event. Festival goers will camp on the farm, which has an existing “Green” campsite with first class facilities and plenty of space. The farm is situated on the edge of Bodmin Moor a couple of miles off the main A30.
