Awaken re-releases its mythic demo "Farewell to the pulsar"

Long before the present cheerful "Beppu Nights" era, long before the sensual magnetic soul disco of nowadays, FAREWELL TO THE PULSAR (also known as "la démo jaune" -the yellow demo) was the (un)famous controversial demo tape of AWAKEN, recorded in 2001 right after the release of the “Party In Lyceum's Toilets” album.
Keyboardist Gilles Snowcat somehow decided it was time to have fresh songs and recorded 6 tunes on his own, with a little help from the then Dream Voice, Carla, without noticing the other band members.
When Snowcat introduced the final product to the band, the demo was massively rejected, accelerating the pseudo-split: the lead singer and guitarist eventually left. Ironically enough, when leaks started to spread the demo through AWAKEN fans, they quickly loved it, claiming it was superior to the official releases! Some ranked “Just Dregs” as their favorite AWAKEN song, creating a kind of buzz around the band and pushing it to record more. It was a new start for AWAKEN, who regrouped with a new line-up to record “One Wild War” in 2002. But that’s another story… In waiting, please enjoy a part of AWAKEN’s history, in 6 pictures.
