AWARD-WINNING TEEN INDIE RECORDING ARTIST TO HOST CONCERT IN SUPPORT OF WAR CHILD
Added: (Wed Sep 24 2008)
“Alex Tintinalli & friends – benefit concert in support of War Child” will be webcast live.
Kitchener, Ontario – September 24, 2008 - On Saturday November 1, 2008 a benefit concert in support of War Child www.warchild.ca will take place at The Gig Theatre in downtown Kitchener, Ontario, Canada www.thegig.ca . 16-year old award winning guitarist, singer-songwriter, Indie recording artist from Kitchener, Alex Tintinalli www.alextintinalli.com and his company Scarlet Dragon Productions www.myspace.com/scarletdragonproductions has teamed up with GIG-100, an Artist’s Collective in support of War Child www.myspace.com/gig100, IndieCan www.indiecan.com, and Popular Minority Productions www.popularminority.com to host this benefit concert.
Canadian youth are making a stand and taking notice right here in Canada, to help less fortunate kids around the world enjoy a quality of life we take for granted every day. Alex states that “when I learned about GIG-100 and how it supports War Child through a series of benefit concerts, I immediately knew I had to get involved”. Other Canadian artists such as Avril Lavigne, Tom Cochrane, Billy Talent, Raine Maida, Chantal Kreviazuk, City & Colour, and recently the top three 2008 Canadian Idols Theo Tams, Mitch MacDonald and Drew Wright, have all contributed their names to this great cause through other music concerts www.warchild.ca/music_musicians.aspx.
War Child is an organization solely dedicated to helping kids in war afflicted areas or children who are soldiers in combat. War Child raises money and awareness for kids in many third-world countries facing desperate situations; Ghana, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Uganda, Iraq, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sri Lanka, Sudan and Georgia. They give money to build schools, homes, buy clothes, food and medicine, as well, bringing hope and peace to kids who never thought it was possible. Over 90% of the monies received from donations go directly to providing such aid.
Recently Tintinalli, a grade 11 student at Forest Heights Collegiate in Kitchener, has received a well earned round of recognition - awarded the prestigious Kitchener-Waterloo Arts Award in June, won CBC Galaxie’s Rising Star Award at the Tremblant International Blues Festival in July, and was featured in Blues Matters magazine in the U.K. in the May/June issue. Alex notes, “it’s nice to be recognized and sharing the gift of music with the world to help the less fortunate is inspiring and the least I can do”. “Our goal is to raise a minimum of $5000.00 through on-line donations for War Child Canada”, states Alex optimistically. On-line donations can be made through the War Child donations link at Alex’s website www.alextintinalli.com starting today and will run through November 2, 2008.
Headlining the event will be KOCH recording artists, The Joys www.thejoys.ca from London, Ontario. This year The Joys’ self-titled three-song single went Gold and have been topping the Canadian Indie charts for several months. Other artists include the host, Alex Tintinalli and his band along with other local Indie artists - The Alysha Brillinger Band www.myspace.com/alyshabrillinger , The Sound Foundation www.thesoundfoundation.ca, The Matt Lees Band www.myspace.com/mattlees and Sean Pinchin www.myspace.com/seanpinchin.
As a way of drawing international attention and donations to War Child, this fundraiser will be broadcast live over the Internet using the latest in webcast streaming technology. “By having a webcast, each performing artist’s fans from around the world can watch live and hopefully donate to the War Child cause,” says show promoter and event organizer Leo Tintinalli, President and Co-founder of Scarlet Dragon Productions. On-line viewers can go to www.alextintinalli.com to watch this event live on November 1st. This event is being promoted to world-wide media sources in order to attract a large on-line audience to maximize awareness to the War Child cause. Its also a great way to showcase local emerging Indie artists to the world”, Leo states enthusiastically.
Opportunities exist for companies interested in advertising during the webcast. “With the potential for thousands of simultaneous on-line viewers from around the world, corporate sponsorships will help to offset production costs along with the potentially high cost of our anticipated bandwidth needs for this live streaming webcast concert”, states Leo. Interested sponsors should contact Leo direct by email at scarletdragonproductions@rogers.com.

The Gig Theatre is a not for profit community of people that gave life to an old theatre for artists to gig in. "Good vibe, incredible sound and people who care about people". We want artists to know that their contribution to life is essential. We opened our doors in January 2006 and began with a very simple strategy: BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. Our mission at the gig is to offer dignity and treat artists really well. Most of who began this theatre are artists. We really felt that there was a need in downtown for something as unique as what we offer. www.thegig.ca
