MACCLESFIELD BEACH CLEANERS ARE A SHORE SUCCESS IN MALAYSIA

SISIS Equipment (Macclesfield) Ltd has won a major deal to supply 16 high-tech beach cleaners to the Malaysian Government with a helping hand from Trade Partners UK - the government organisation that provides support services for UK companies trading overseas. The contract, worth more than £250,000 is the biggest single order secured by the Midlands-based company.
SISIS used the support of the international trade team at Trade Partners UK and joined the 'Your passport to export success'* programme to identify new overseas business opportunities.
SISIS export manager David Harrison said, "We are absolutely delighted to have achieved this success. Three years ago we supplied two of the cleaning units for use on the island of Labuan, off the coast of Malaysia. They proved highly effective and the Malaysian Government has signalled its confidence in the equipment with this latest order."
David and colleague John Ashton flew out to Port Dickson to install the beach cleaners and train the 50-strong team of operators, managers and mechanics handling the fleet.
The company, which has also established overseas markets for the cleaners in Australia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Thailand and Finland, now plans to work alongside Trade Partners UK to promote the equipment throughout the Far East.
The S40 cleaning units, which are designed and manufactured by SISIS, work by removing and filtering a pre-set layer of sand and returning it to the beach. The new fleet will operate at 12 locations around Peninsular Malaysia, many of them on the Malacca Straits. As well as removing discarded material and smoothing-over the sand, the units are tackling the spread of foliage by ripping out the weed and reclaiming the beach.
