- Learn How to Mitigate Chemical Risk and Meet Brand Expectations in Textiles and Footwear with SGS’s
- Managing hazardous substances along the textile and leather supply chains is no longer optional. Brands and consumers want to know what chemicals have been used, how they have been managed and any risks mitigated. SGS’s Hazard Substance Control (HSC) Workshops enable industry professionals to mitigate chemical risk and meet brand expectations.
It takes more than 40 types of chemicals to turn cotton from its raw state into the finished product; more than 30 types of chemicals to turn animal hide into a leather belt. How can so many potentially hazardous substances be managed across the many production processes involved?
Watch the video and learn how our HSC Workshop can help: https://youtu.be/FKobEQk8Wdw
SGS recently held a number of HSC Workshops for global retailer H&M, whose Global Environmental Supply Chain Responsible, Miss Sheila Shek, said: “H&M has been working hard to ensure factories in our supply chain have the capability for chemical management. In order to enhance their competence levels, we worked with SGS to run the HSC workshop program at a global level. These workshops focus on key chemical management concepts and tools that can be applied in the production process, which are important and can be practically applied in the daily operation of a supply chain. We believe this workshop is a crucial step for the industry to achieve the goal of zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.”
This comprehensive and practical one day workshop, including a combination of seminars and interactive learning sessions, delivers modular training that is process specific, and covers every stage of the textile and footwear manufacturing process, such as dyeing, printing, washing and finishing, and in the leather tanning process. It introduces attendees to the concept of chemical flow management and how to create a traceability system, as well as how to identify, manage and mitigate risk.

- Radware Launches New Device Fingerprinting Technology to Mitigate Malicious Bot Attacks
IP-agnostic device fingerprinting implemented in Radware’s Attack Mitigation System provides accurate identification to precisely detect malicious end user devices
London, UK – June 1, 2015 – Radware® (NASDAQ: RDWR), a leading provider of cyber security and application delivery solutions ensuring optimal service level for applications in virtual, cloud and software defined data centres, today announced enhanced protection from threats posed by advanced bots through its Attack Mitigation System. This major enhancement now gives Radware customers the ability to track end user devices without the need for Internet Protocol (IP) address. Fingerprinting technology is used to precisely identify application users or website visitors who have a history of malicious behaviour, and are often part of a botnet.
Many of today’s most severe security threats leverage bots and other traffic sources that can avoid detection by mimicking user behaviour, dynamically changing the source IP addresses or operating behind anonymous proxies and content delivery networks.
Businesses that conduct a high volume of online transactions are plagued by bots that can exhaust application resources, scrape sensitive information from websites illegitimately and seek vulnerabilities through application logic abuse. In order to protect applications from advanced bots or even collective human threats, website operators need more advanced user/client identification that can detect and block illegitimate users.
To help combat this threat, Radware's Attack Mitigation System has been enhanced with technology that can track and precisely detect malicious end user devices regardless of the source IP address. Device fingerprinting implemented in Radware’s Attack Mitigation System suite uses dozens of characteristics of the device in a unique way to identify and distinguish it from all others. Using proprietary tracking, Radware can generate device reputational profiles that combine both historical behavioural information aiding in the detection and mitigation of threats such as Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS), intrusions and fraudsters alike.
“We have reached a point where the IP address has limited effectiveness as a means of identifying and blocking illegitimate users,” says Ben Desjardins, director of security solutions for Radware. “With the proliferation of devices driven by the Internet of Things (IoT) and users operating multiple mobile devices more than ever before, the challenge of device identification continues to increase exponentially. Our device fingerprinting technology gives online businesses a powerful tool in combating the threats posed by the difficulties of accurate device and user detection.”
Accurate device-level identification allows for effective protection from traffic that can elude IP address based security measures. This includes malicious traffic coming through content delivery networks (CDNs) with whitelisted IPs, traffic using dynamic hosting configuration that results in a new IP address each time they access the Internet. Device fingerprinting can also improve identification of malicious users accessing the Internet through Network Address Translation (NAT) devices that result in many devices sharing the same IP address, and anonymous proxy services that make it difficult to block IPs without potentially blocking legitimate users/devices.
Device fingerprinting further bolsters the Radware Attack Mitigation System, an award-winning solution to protect an enterprise’s infrastructure against network and application downtime, application vulnerability exploitation, malware spread, network anomalies, information theft and other types of attack.

- The iron-binding Dpr has been thoroughly researched in microbes and demonstrated to mitigate H2O2 le
- Specially, expression of genes concerned in oxygen rate of metabolism (nox), thiol anxiety (trxA and trxB) and ROS detoxification (ahpC, ahpF, sodA and tpx) among some others was considerably lower in strains missing spxA1, spxA2 or each. Listed here, we sought to uncover the function of previously uncharacterized genes that, in the microarrays, exhibited the identical regulatory profile of the known oxidative anxiety genes, specifically smu127, smu143, smu144, smu247, smu929c, smu1296, smu1297, and smu1645. In addition, we included one particular previously characterised oxidative strain gene, smu540 (dpr), to serve as a phenotypic benchmark as well as to gain more understanding about the perform of Dpr in S. mutans. An exception to the craze of positive regulation by Spx was the inclusion of the smu569/570/571 transcriptional device encoding the FeoABC iron transportation technique, which was by our microarrays to be negatively controlled by SpxA1. Supplied the well-outlined position of iron in hydroxyl radical development as a catalyst of the Fenton response, it is thus anticipated that adverse regulation of iron uptake by Spx is an integral part of the oxidative anxiety reaction. The transcriptional knowledge received from ourHarmine microarrays provided insight into the function of Spx proteins as regulators below basal situations, when the cells were not subjected to oxidative stress. Here, quantitative true time PCR assessment of cells uncovered to H2O2 additional supported that the genes researched herein are regulated by Spx and encode bona fide oxidative tension proteins. Publicity to H2O2 resulted in increased expression of just about every of these genes (with the exception of, as predicted, feoB), demonstrating a function for every of them in defending the mobile towards oxidative stresses. Nevertheless, in the absence of SpxA1, publicity to oxidative pressure did not trigger improved expression of these genes, demonstrating their regulatory dependence upon SpxA1. With the exception of smu143c (polypeptide deformylase), smu144c, (transcriptional regulator) and smu929c, which encodes a hypothetical membrane protein conserved among the Gram-optimistic cocci, all other genes are predicted to encode proteins associated in oxidative strain responses in other germs. Among the latter group of genes, the aforementioned dpr and feoB are predicted to participate in oxidative stress defenses by binding to iron (Dpr) or by restricting iron uptake (FeoB). The FeoABC system can be discovered in each Gram-constructive and Gram-damaging bacteria and has been implicated in virulence of numerous Gram-detrimental species as properly as Streptococcus suis [forty five, forty six]. With the exception of the elevated resistance to streptonigrin, an antibiotic whose toxicity is dependent on the availability of intracellular absolutely free iron, the feo pressure phenocopied the guardian strain such as a virtually equivalent capacity to colonize the enamel of rats fed a cariogenic eating plan. This may be spelled out, at minimum in portion, by iron currently being non-exclusively transported by other metallic-binding ABC transporters.

- How to mitigate the fraud when you purchasing products online
- Purchasing products online via ebay or similar C2C, B2C, B2B sites is very popular.
With rising number of transaction also increasing number of frauds.
Frauders has various methods how to cheat and sometimes they are so perfect that you are not able to recognize when you are becoming a victim of scam.
The first and most important rule is - Never pay for goods at advance via payment methods where you don’t know real name and details of seller. That is especially Western Union, Money Gram and similar services.
Every week I can hear about cases when the buyer has never seen the goods for the money he payed. There is not only problem with sellers from Asian or developing countries. Many cases of fraud also coming from EU and U.S.
B2B marketplaces are a great places to trade however the lack of security of transaction is needed.
DoTradeEasy.com B2B and B2C marketplace offers a secure payment system for worldwide buyers and sellers. They send your money to the seller only when the delivered goods are satisfactory. This the great system for smaller orders.
For larger transaction is the best to use letter of credit and FOB. For larger orders you mostly deal with Limited Companies so check their details and feedback before send the money.
DoTradeEasy.com serves wholesalers, suppliers and manufacturers from any country. Even if you are end user, retailer or sole traded you can use this marketplace to sell or buy products online securely. This is also business directory of worldwide suppliers. So make sure that you pay just via DoTradeEasy Escrow otherwise there is no warranty of your money.
Don`t be another victim of fraud. Don`t pay money to someone you don’t know via unsecure payment solution. Use only safe trade ways.

- BeyondTrust helps RWE Supply & Trading mitigate administrative rights and unauthorised download risk
- BeyondTrust helps RWE Supply & Trading mitigate administrative rights and unauthorised download risks
Leading pan-European energy trading house meets tight budgetary and regulatory constraints through ongoing use of BeyondTrust cyber security solutions
March 9th 2015 – BeyondTrust®, the global cyber security company dedicated to proactively eliminating data breaches from insider privilege abuse and external hacking attacks, today announced a successful project that is helping RWE Supply & Trading, a leading pan-European energy trading house reduce security risks while meeting budgetary and regulatory constraints.
RWE Supply & Trading is a leading energy trading house, and a key player in the European energy sector serving as the interface between the global wholesale markets for energy and energy-related raw materials, and the RWE Group, one of Europe’s five leading electricity and gas companies. The European energy sector is undergoing fundamental changes, with subsidised expansion of renewables causing margins and utilisation of conventional power stations to decline, thereby requiring energy providers to reduce costs. But against this cost reduction, energy providers such as RWE Supply & Trading cannot sacrifice security.
As part of its ongoing strategy to protect and continually strengthen its IT security posture, RWE considered the tightening of administrator rights to ensure that users download only applications applicable to their responsibilities and mitigate the risk of rogue software and potential harmful malware damaging its critical IT systems. However, RWE was also concerned that simply removing admin rights from employees would hamper productivity, especially in an environment that makes extensive use of Citrix VDI technologies. As the IT Security Architect for RWE Supply & Trading, Loucas Parikos explains, “We wanted to reduce the attack surface and our chances of being exploited…” without negatively impacting on a productive work environment while meeting all regulatory constraints.
Following an extensive evaluation and Proof-of-Concept phase, RWE selected BeyondTrust PowerBroker for Windows which has allowed the company to eliminate ad-hoc admin rights on all users’ PCs as well as allow fine grained control of privileges on the Windows Servers. With PowerBroker, RWE is able to control the functions permitted on servers, whether accessed by local employees, contractors, employees from other divisions, or by groups to which RWE outsourced.
Once local admin issues had been resolved, Parikos next moved on to reducing its attack surface and vulnerabilities across all IT resources. After undertaking another Proof of Concept of several vulnerability management products and an extended evaluation period, RWE deployed Retina CS from BeyondTrust to scan its disparate and heterogeneous environment to identify security exposures using the results in a consolidated set of actions based on specific vulnerabilities found during the scans. “The reporting capabilities provide insight and help us prioritise our risks across the entire environment based on industry data about specific vulnerabilities,” Parikos noted. The project was capped by a final stage that used the PowerBroker Password Safe to track who accessed various privileged accounts on RWE’s estate of 1000+ Windows servers and 200+ UNIX systems to enable detailed audits of what had been done during each access session.
The entire solution is managed by the BeyondTrust BeyondInsight platform to provide a top level and real-time view of what applications are used by its Windows users, the vulnerabilities in its assets, and the actions of privileged users on its Windows and UNIX servers. The success of the solution has helped RWE retain its strict regulatory and industry best practice security controls and according to Parikos, “Our initial success in working with BeyondTrust to eliminate admin rights propelled us to seek other components that could also be monitored from BeyondInsight. The reporting capabilities and recommendations are excellent, and the more assets we scanned, the more useful those insights became in prioritising our remediation efforts.”
BeyondTrust is a global cyber security company dedicated to proactively eliminating data breaches from insider privilege abuse and external hacking attacks. Corporate and government organizations rely on BeyondTrust solutions to shrink attack surfaces and identify imminent threats. The company's integrated risk intelligence platform presents a unique competitive advantage in its ability to reveal critical risks hidden within volumes of user and system data. This unifies IT and Security departments, empowering them with the information and control they need to jointly prevent breaches, maintain compliance, and ensure business continuity. - Bentley’s New Subsurface Utility Engineering Breakthrough Technology Mitigates Risk of Building in U
- July 8, 2014 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, recently announced the availability of Bentley’s Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). This breakthrough technology for the integrated engineering management of underground utility networks for water, storm water, gas, and electric services is built on OpenRoads, Bentley’s collaborative BIM advancement for multi-discipline civil engineering projects. Bentley’s SUE brings together data from multiple sources and geo-coordinates it for 3D modeling, interactive inspection, and utility conflict detection and clash resolution.
By providing a framework of powerful software tools and rich content to quickly and easily generate high-fidelity, intelligent 3D feature-based models of the buried construction zone, SUE mitigates the risks of building in utility-congested, “call-before-you-dig” underground environments. These risks can range from project delays to damaged subsurface utilities to explosions that threaten below- and above-ground infrastructure as well as human life.
Commenting on the new offering, Bentley Systems’ CEO Greg Bentley said, “In cities around the world, the area that I believe poses the biggest risk to those designing, building, and operating infrastructure is found by looking down. It’s also the area for which it seems there’s been the least advancement of information modeling and information mobility to improve construction throughput and enhance the reliability, safety, and resilience of infrastructure assets. And for Bentley Systems, with our portfolio spanning building, civil, geospatial, and plant domains, it’s a particular priority – as all infrastructure projects are impacted by subsurface conditions, restrictions, and requirements.”
He continued, “Our Subsurface Utility Engineering software uniquely provides across disciplines a powerful new information modeling application. Its use will empower project teams to comprehensively understand, and more effectively and efficiently resolve, underground infrastructure conflicts.”
SUE automatically creates 3D models from survey information, CAD data, GIS, Excel spreadsheets, Oracle databases, and other industry standard sources of information. In addition, it maintains a relationship between CAD and GIS utility sources and tracks civil features to ensure that data is always synchronized and up to date.
Using the visualization and clash detection capabilities of SUE, users can readily identify and resolve conflicts between new construction features and existing utilities during the design phase. This helps mitigate risk during construction, lowers costs, and sustains asset performance.
SUE further enables immersive modeling by empowering users to combine active plan, profile, and cross-section views with innovative 3D modeling technology, providing additional context for decision making. SUE’s additional provision of parametric design features includes fully dynamic rules, relationships, and constraints built into the modeling workflow. The net result of these advancements is improved design quality with unique “optioneering” capabilities that allow users to readily create and compare design alternatives. Moreover, the intelligent 3D modeling capabilities deliver against the U.S. Federal Highway Administration’s “MAP-21” recommendations for 3D modeling/virtual construction and visualization technology.
SUE also conforms to essential elements of the Standard Guideline for the Collection and Depiction of Existing Subsurface Utility Data (38-02) that govern subsurface utility information quality. This standard assists engineers, project and utility owners, and constructors in developing strategies to reduce risk by improving the reliability of information on existing subsurface utilities in a defined manner.
SUE provides indispensable insight for contractors employing alternative delivery approaches such as design-build, and taking on the risks associated with identifying and resolving subsurface utility conflicts. Most significantly, those substantially benefitting from SUE’s powerful capabilities include cities and other owners of infrastructure – and all whose quality of life is sustained by underground utilities.

- MILPITAS, CA–May 20, 2014– Array Networks Inc., a global leader in application delivery networking, today announces the immediate availability of its new mid-range APV3600 and APV3650 application delivery controllers (ADC). Engineered to mitigate the burden placed on businesses by 2048-bit SSL encryption, the new APV Series appliances support up to 25,0002048-bit SSL transactions per second (TPS) and deliver the lowest cost per SSL TPS on the market. Standard features include a space-saving 1RU design, 10GigE interfaces, fiber and copper connectivity options and a full suite of advanced ADC features including server load balancing, link load balancing, global server load balancing, L7/L4 traffic management, custom scripting, connection multiplexing, SSL acceleration, caching, compression, traffic shaping, IPv6 support, Web application security and N+1 clustering.
Impact of 2048-bit SSL
First introduced in 2011 as a more secure alternative to 1024-bit SSL, 2048-bit SSL encryption is today the standard for all certificate-issuing authorities. While more secure than the previous standard, 2048-bit SSL is five times more compute-intensive. As a result, it is not uncommon for servers, load balancers and application delivery controllers to support only one fifth the SSL TPSthey used to. The knock-on effect is that environments in which servers were sufficient may require load balancersand situations where mid-range ADCs were sufficient may require high-end ADCs – all of which comes with a hefty price tag.
Array APV3600 & APV3650
In the mid-range, where ADCs commonly supported 25,000 1024-bit SSL TPS, the appliances now support only 5000 SSL TPS for the newer 2048-bit standard. Even if customers purchase the most advanced mid-range ADC from Array’s closest competitor, the most they will achieve is 15,000 2048-bit SSL TPS – at which point they would need to either purchase multiple units or purchase higher-end units. In contrast, Array APV3600 and APV3650 appliances support up to 25,000 2048-bit SSL TPS and maintain a mid-range price point while migrating to the new, more secure standard.
High-Performance, Feature-Rich SSL
Total value of ownership for SSL offload solutions is not limited to TPS and cost; there are other attributes essential to delivering the performance and functionality essential in service provider and enterprise environments. For example, Array’s APV3600 and APV3650 appliances perform functions such as certificate revocation lists (CRL) on top of TCP/IP in the kernel to ensure high-performance for all SSL related tasks. In addition, the new appliances support advanced SSL features including server name indication (SNI), SSL inside and SSL bridging, multi-level authentication and in-flight certificate challenges. From outright performance and scalability, to cost and return on investment, to advanced features, no vendor or competing product can match Array APV3600 and APV3650 appliances for offloading 2048-bit SSL encryption.
Recently, the Heartbleed vulnerability received considerable press due to the widespread use of SSL to secure virtually everything on the Web, including ecommerce, social media, business applications and online banking. Array was the only ADC vendor that was completely immune to Heartbleed because the company implements its entire proprietary SSL stack on top of TCP/IP in the kernel to offer advanced application delivery features at speed and offer immunity from OpenSSL-related vulnerabilities such as Heartbleed. While no one knows what the next OpenSSL vulnerability may be, customers that choose Array products, such as the new APV3600 and APV3650 can be assured that their likelihood of exposure to SSL-related security issues will be significantly reduced.
“One of Array’s primary competitive advantages and market differentiators is superiority in all facets of SSL secure transaction processing,” said Michael Zhao, president and CEO of Array Networks. “With the new APV3600 and APV3650 products, Array has set an even higher standard of scalability, features, security and price-performance for service provider and enterprise customers that are either migrating to or scaling 2048-bit SSL encryption.”
About the APV3600 and APV3650
Array APV3600 and APV3650 application delivery controller appliances are available immediately. The APV3600 is a 20Gbps appliance and the APV3650 is a 30Gbps appliance; both models support 25,000 2048-bit SSL TPS and both models ship standard with all Array application delivery networking features.

- Pasternack Unveils New VNA Test Cables that Mitigate Phase Change Over 75,000 Flexure Cycles
- Pasternack, a leading provider of RF, microwave and millimeter wave products, releases of an all new line of ruggedized phase stable VNA test cables operating up to 40 GHz depending on the series. These VNA test cables are specially designed to withstand the rigors of test lab use and production testing for 50 ohm communications systems.
The new phase stable cables can be ordered with male or female versions of SMA or Type-N connectors for cables operating to 18 GHz, 2.92mm connectors for cables operating to 26.5 GHz or 2.4mm connectors for test cables performing up to 40 GHz. Torsion resistant connector heads are directly attached to stainless steel conduit style armoring providing a rugged design for up to 5,000 mating cycles with proper care. The cable's armoring enhances amplitude and phase stability by preventing stress due to over bending while maintaining the flexibility required for testing in a lab environment.
Pasternack's new ruggedized VNA test cables have a maximum phase change of +/- 2 degrees at 18 GHz, +/- 3 degrees at 26.5 GHz and +/- 5 degrees at 40 GHz with typical calibration procedures. Minimal phase change is essential because amplitude and phase variation following VNA calibration can cause inaccurate S Parameter measurements. As a result, amplitude and phase stable cables are needed to make accurate Vector Network Analyzer measurements. Pasternack's new amplitude and phase stable ruggedized VNA test cables provide the reliable and repeatable, accurate test results users require.
"Our new VNA test cables provide industry-leading performance up to 40 GHz," explains Steve Ellis, Interconnect Product Manager at Pasternack. "These test cables are rated to 5,000 mating cycles and 75,000 flexure cycles while still exhibiting excellent amplitude and phase stability to the given frequency."
Pasternack's new amplitude and phase stable VNA test cables are available today from stock. You can view the new cables by visiting http://www.pasternack.com/pages/RF-Microwave-and-Millimeter-Wave-Products/ruggedized-vna-test-cables.html. Pasternack can be contacted at +1-949-261-1920.

- InfoCom show how carriers mitigated fixed voice erosion in Western Europe
- Stuttgart, Germany — The majority of Western European countries demonstrates a constant erosion of total fixed voice traffic within the past five years, as customers migrate to other communication platforms such as mobile and Internet. Moreover, the rise in VoIP usage, especially in some countries such as France, has not been enough to offset completely the decline.
However, in some countries carriers managed to slowdown the decline of or even to increase the fixed voice traffic, primarily thanks to the combined effect of market strategies such as bundling and flat rate offers. In Switzerland, for instance, the growth in fixed voice traffic since 2012 has been generated by the operators’ success in product bundling via aggressive promotion, rapid geographic service expansion and value-added features and options. Swisscom, for example, expanded its complimentary services in the entry-level Vivo Casa 1 triple-play package in 2013, especially in the fixed-line, with the introduction of residential unlimited fixed-to-fixed and fixed-to-mobile calls for all Swiss networks round-the-clock, unlike limited to evenings and weekends and to Swisscom networks only. Moreover, Swisscom SME Office 4 and 5 packages were extended with respectively 120 and 480 minutes of free inter-national calls, which was not offered before. As a result, the fixed telephony lines in bundles increased from 0.3m in 2010 to 0.8m in 2013 (+146%).
Additionally, policies on lower fixed and mobile termination rates as enforced by the regulators, in adherence to the termination rates set by the EU Commission, also played a role in mitigating the downtrend of the fixed traffic and even produced an encouraging growth in fixed calls, as in the case of Belgium and Portugal. In Belgium, the regulator previously allowed alternative operators to charge higher fixed termination rates than the incumbent, yet in 2012 it pushed its decision to normalise the fixed termination rates among all operators at an average of 0.71 eurocents per minute. As a consequence, fixed voice tariffs offered to customers were decreased and this produced a positive 4% growth in traffic in 2012, deviating from the previous declining trend – an average of -3% since 2009.
In Portugal, the traffic trend had been increasing since 2009 yet it experienced 3% drop in 2012 as a negative effect of economic crisis and increasing consumer preference on mobile and Internet services. To partly counter these effects, the regulator implemented a cut of about 80% in fixed termination rates in October 2013. As a result, we can expect a positive impact on customer’s fixed voice tariffs and, as a consequence, an improvement in fixed voice traffic levels.
