Added: (Thu Sep 05 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Premier Hygiene has been researching the impact that Brexit has had on stockpiling and bulk buying, following the referendum on 23 June 2016. According to recent data, it seems that the nation has become obsessed with stockpiling.

According to Google Trends (from 23.6.16 – 2.9.19) people in Britain searching the term ‘Stockpiling’ has dramatically increased. It hit an all time high the week commencing 22nd July, which was the week that Theresa May stood down as Prime Minister.

This comes as a recent survey from the finance provider Premium Credit, has shared that 1 in 5 Britons have been stockpiling goods including food, drink and medicines in preparation for a possible no-deal Brexit.

Oliver Byrne, Operations Director, at Premier Hygiene said: ‘The Google searches and the results from the survey comes as no surprise; we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of people bulk buying products from our household section. From the customers we’ve spoken to, a large number of them say it’s because of Brexit. It will be interesting to see if the spike continues come October.’
