INDUCTION MOTORS

Added: (Wed Jul 10 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Everyone knows how an electric motor works. Many people know the basics of how motors work; a knowledge that is acquired from articles or books or maybe online sites, the fact is that electric motors that we make daily use of in everything from industrial to electric trains do not work as per this basic knowledge at all. Books teach us about a DC motor that has a looped wire rotating between two poles of a permanent magnet, whereby in actual life the majority of high power motors use alternating current (AC) that way making them work completely in a different way. These motors are what we call induction motors which make very indigenous use of a rotating magnetic field.
How Does An Ordinary DC Motor Work?
The DC Motors (Gleichstrommotoren) motors we learn in books are simply based on a rectangular looped wire that rotates between two magnetic poles. Hooking this kind of a wire to a battery will create a temporary magnetic field around it, which repels the permanent magnetic field hence making the wire to flip over. If we use a commutator, which is an ingenious rotating connection we can cause a reverse in current that makes the wire flip over, hence rotating in the same direction if the current is flowing steadily. That process makes the essence of DC motor, which was conceived by Michael Faraday in 1820s and invented by William Sturgeon a decade later.
How Does AC Motor Work?
Most homes, offices, factories and other buildings are not powered by DC current unlike toys and flashlights. They are powered by AC current that reverses its direction about 50 times per second (50 Hz). In case you want to run a motor using AC current, you need to choose a different design of motor except for DC motor.
We have a starter in AC motors, which consists of a ring of electromagnets arranged around the outside, and it is designed to produce a magnetic field. Within the motor, there is a loop of wire, solid metal axle, a coil, a squirrel cage made of metal bars and interconnections. One of the differences between DC Motors and AC Motors (AC-Motoren) is that in DC motor power is sent to the inner rotor while in AC motors power is sent to the outer coils that make up stator.
How Does The Rotating Make Motor Move?
The rotor suspended within the magnetic field is a conductor. Therefore, since the magnetic field is constantly changing due to rotational movement, according to electromagnetic laws the magnetic field produces an electric current inside the rotor. Electromagnetic induction is the primary results as to why motor spin is therefore bringing up the name induction motor.
