Pressbox (Press Release) - A Northamptonshire pensioner is supporting Multiple Sclerosis charities with the release of his steamy new novel.
Philip Bryant’s racy first book, Undamage Me... Jack, has been rewarded with five-star reader reviews since its release.
The 69-year-old, who now lives in Kettering, is donating half of all royalties to MS charities in the 13 countries where his book is available.
Both Philip and his wife suffer from the condition.
Despite MS restricting his ability to write he plans for Undamage Me… Jack to be the first part of a gripping trilogy.
Philip said: “I have a routine of working between 10am and 2pm every day after which my tiredness kicks in.
“Having the use of only one hand and being a male one-fingered typist means I work slowly.
“But the second book, which will be called Undamage Me… Two Years Later is due out later this year.”
Philip emigrated to Australia in 1981, where he built up a successful career in the leather industry and took out citizenship.
The father of three was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1988.
As his condition worsened and, after a divorce, he returned to England.
He met his current wife Sandra, who also has MS, and they married after moving back to Australia in 2001.
Philip, who is now permanently in a wheelchair, and Sandra, who requires a walking stick, came back to Northamptonshire a decade ago.
The author added: “My condition worsened to the point that we returned to live in Northants in 2009 where our families can help us.
“I have a carer three times a day and a ceiling hoist is being fitted this month as my health worsens.
“We are both retired and facing up to the challenges ahead of us, but I still have the ability to write.
“My personal challenge is to raise money for MS.”
Undamage Me… Jack is an absorbing story of a young woman damaged by abuse who falls for an older man.
Philip’s well-crafted narrative brings to life the struggles of both Summer and Jack as ill health comes between them.
Undamage Me… Jack has been described as ‘fantastic’, ‘brilliant’ and ‘very addictive’ by captivated readers.
