Essex poet’s life with MS inspires hit book

Added: (Fri Jun 14 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Life with Multiple Sclerosis has provided the inspiration for an Essex poet’s chart-topping first anthology.
D Green, who lives on the Essex coast, was diagnosed with MS at the age of 21.
Despite the 34-year-old also suffering from dyslexia, he discovered that composing stanzas acted as a therapy.
Since the release of Fragile Body and The World Around Me, D Green’s work has reached number one in Amazon’s poetry charts.
And the brutally honest poems have also been rewarded with entirely five-star reader reviews.
He said: “I was 21 years old and was stopped in my tracks by the chronic disease Multiple Sclerosis.
“I wrote about my struggles of living with Multiple Sclerosis as I want the world to know about the pain and suffering that comes with it - with this vile creature.
“But writing about having Multiple Sclerosis inspired me to write more about my emotions and feelings that I carry about other stuff I have observed in this world.”
A bad relapse of Multiple Sclerosis led to the poet having to learn how to walk again several years ago.
The pain and fatigue which comes with the illness also forced D to give up their career in the healthcare industry.
Despite difficulties with typing due to painful joints, he now dedicates even more time to poetry and other writing.
One of the author’s poems, Caged Mother, was written in support of Iranian prisoner Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, and featured in several national newspapers.
But it is the stunning collection of poems, Fragile Body and The World Around Me, which has attracted the most attention.
He added: “Fragile Body and The World Around Me is a collection I wrote about every emotion that I have lived through during my 14 years with this chronic illness.
“I hope this collection of poetry raises awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, as a proportion of every book sold will be donated to the KissGoodbyeMS campaign.”
Fragile Body and The World Around Me has been described as ‘touching’, ‘emotional’ and ‘accessible’ by captivated readers.
In another five-star review Cat Martin said: “It’s very powerful, emotional and insightful to know the author suffers in silence with a chronic disease.
“He is an inspiration and raising awareness to those who are also suffering in silence that there can be light at the end of the tunnel.”
