East Yorks gran goes fourth with latest book in series

Pressbox (Press Release) - Even retired mathematics teacher J M Kelly is having trouble keeping count of the number of novels she’s now written.
Although the 70-year-old grandmother from East Yorkshire still volunteers in the classroom, she has found the time to amass more than a dozen gripping adventure novels.
J M has recently released the highly-anticipated fourth instalment of her thrilling Jinxerpokery series of books.
Menace in the Mountains is yet another stunning slice of page-turning science fiction that continues J M’s epic story.
She said: “Menace in the Mountains sees fallen Guardian, Festulantus, betrayed by his henchman Jake and captured by the three Recruits - Harry, Bethany and Abigail.
“Their mentor Mrs Regnad is now on the tracks of Jake who has escaped with the Lifebox and the Paradoxery - a book of malevolent Jinxes, which was banned many centuries ago.
“It’s a race against time as from his lair deep in the Swiss mountains Jake is using the Paradoxery for his own evil ends.
“The three Recruits, some unsuspecting friends and the two rescued dogs, Jasper and Violet, are tasked with penetrating his hideout, recovering the Lifebox and destroying the Paradoxery before war can destroy the planet.”
J M’s highly imaginative books have won her a growing number of fans.
And she admits spending time at her laptop in her home office is providing compensation, to a degree, for giving up her passion of teaching mathematics.
J M, who started her own schooling in Canada, said: “We didn’t write anything.in the early years of schooling.
“I only began writing when I came to England at nine years old and I attended a small village school where the head teacher encouraged story writing.
“Before I retired last year I have been a teacher, an advisory teacher for mathematics, a mathematics inspector, and also a mathematics consultant to local authorities.
“I obviously get withdrawal symptoms if I am not dealing with young people and teaching mathematics, but writing has helped somewhat.”
J M continues to volunteer in the mathematics department at a secondary school in Hull on two days each week.
Before embarking on a secondary career as a novelist, she published mathematics guides as well as two books for younger children.
